Q&A - PSLE Chinese

for chinese, how to remember whether the hanyupinyin ends with a ‘g’ or not and whether there’s a ‘h’ after ‘s’, ‘c’, ‘z’.
other than memorizing, is there any rule? -
wormy:
I dont think there is any rule. I remembered when I was a student, my chinese teacher created funny sentences to link all those with g together and those without g together. Similarly for those with g and without g.for chinese, how to remember whether the hanyupinyin ends with a 'g' or not and whether there's a 'h' after 's', 'c', 'z'.

Maybe other parents or chinese teachers would like to comment on this . Any ways or rules to memorise them. I would love to know too.

PiggyLalala:
I am not very good in Chinese. But I was told if you are taught the correct way of pronouncing the chinese words from the start, it'll come naturally to you whether there is an 'h' after 's', 'c', 'z'. For eg, we mispronounce words like 'sheng yin' as shen yin.

So for those of us who are not pronouncing the words right, I guess have to start memorizing. Don't think there's a rule - not that I know of. -
my gal told me that their teacher said that words with ‘g’ can add an ‘ah’ behind without changing mouth shape while without ‘g’ can add a ‘nah’ behind without changing mouth shape see if this helps?

2 common themes of Chinese composition are:
1) Did something bad/something bad happened…feel bad, lesson learnt
2) Did something good…feel happy about it.
For the final paragraph, it is common to quote some Chinese phrase. So for the first theme, the usual phrases are
人非圣贤 孰能无过
一朝被蛇咬, 十年怕井绳
For second theme, the usual phrase is 助人为快乐之本 (only one??? can’t think of another).
Can suggest what other good phrases to be used with these 2 themes? -
不经一事,不长一智
知错能改,善莫大焉 -
Good one! Thanks.
Any suggestions for the second theme?
