A series of novels based on this mouse called Geronimo Stilton. Quite popular among kindergarten and lower primary children.

Do you get a small gift for the birthday kid even if your kid will not be attending the party?
I have been doing that, so long as DD gets an invite, I will get a small gift for the bโday kid even though DD cannot make it. But realise it is getting a bit too often.
I will usually drop dd off at the party, chat for a while and then make myself scarce until the end of the party. Value of the gifts for parties that dd attends will be about $30.
For my kidsโ parties, my main objective is for the kids to enjoy, I do not really care about the value of the presents. Even if the invited comes with kids and cousins in tow and without any presents, thatโs fine too. More importantly, will be kids enjoying themselves. -

Jedamum,thanks.
but what if not close?
like ds classmate.....
do we depend on venue?
So far the parties DS have attended were celebrated at home. Two others were at a park where there was a playground and at a small function room in a hotel. For the one at the park, we spent about $60 on books as they had a gift registry. As for the one at the hotel 6 years back, I gave $50 cash as a gift. We are personal friends of the family.
My son's birthday is also celebrated at home every year. We get gifts with the price ranging from $20 to over $100. The most expensive, apart from
IL's cash gift was when our agent whom we had just bought insurance for DS from, gave clothes worth over $500 from DKNY for DS1 1st birthday party :yikes:
Really :faint: when I found out. Wonder whether they can charge to the company??? -

Yes, we do that too. Or we give cash as a gift.Do you get a small gift for the birthday kid even if your kid will not be attending the party?

thanks for the suggestions.

wow, a 1 year old celebration.................so much to celebrate.
budget $250.
do you have any friends/relatives (on your guest list) who live in a condo? if yes, can they book a function book for the party?
if none, check with your neighbourhood community centres to see if there is a function room available. if not, what about void deck at your block?
otherwise what about a picnic at the beach or park? you can cook the food yourself or do a kfc/pizza pickup. cooking food yourself is the the best and you can control your budget.
happy planning and best wishes.
take at look at the birthday parties thread, more ideas there. -
Hello Julia,
Iโve called the company that you PM-ed me and found out about their services. They are very friendly and are very sincere about it. And their pricing is reasonable too. Thanks alot for the recommendation! -

Can parents share your experience on how you celebrate your child's one year old birthday? My house is too small to invite relatives and friends. Buy my budget is low, hopefully below $250 if possible. Will have around 10 to 15 adults and less than 8 children.
Hi ccelyn,
hmm yeah, can book function room... cook up a few finger food etc... Since there will be children, maybe you can engage a party organiser for their services... if not the children will be bored
I was recommended this company by Julia Koh from the forum. Their packages are above $250.. but maybe they offer some individual services like games alone etc... I don't know. you can try!
they are very friendly.
