All About Church/Clan/Society Membership

Hi all parents, I will like to enquire about my chance of getting a recommendation letter from SHHK for year 2008 Child. I intend to register myself for SHHK member next week and hopefully my membership start in November as per what the admin staff told me. My P1 registration will be in year 2014, so i should have slightly more than 2 years of tenure. Chances good? I am applying for Nan Chiau. Thank you in advance!

Was told that Mee Toh Pri is associated to the Singapore Buddhist Lodge. Hence, being a member of it can register under Phase 2B. Can anyone share how to be a member of the Singapore Buddhist Lodge? Thanks in advance

I've ever ask my cousin who teaches at Mee Toh about this. He said they've already stop accepting SBL member registration under 2B phase. Not sure whether it's true. You might need to call the school to ask before joining SBL.

Hi posting here to see any one can enlighten me.

My DS due to register in next year , We live just opposite Nan Hua Primary. Knowing this a good and super-hot school even we live within 50m might not have the chance to get in. But am actually still pining hope. I like the children there. Very well behave and the school emphasis on Chinese.

Also I’ve been attending church for 1 year now, my boys also doing the Sunday school in church. I have 2nd thought to put them in Christian school – Fairfield Primary.

I know if I choose to Baptist, my chance for my DS1 to enter Fairfield (2B) is almost 100%?
But am not ready for baptism being my parents & in-law are Buddhist. Being Christian heard can’t hold joss sticks and eat foods that offered for praying. If come to ‘Chin Min’ praying grandparents, what should I do? The other way is I heard church can also help write letter or endorse to help get in school. Is this possible? Can any long time Christian advise me?

I think churches will only endorse their own members, and internally, there may be some criteria to issuing of letter. This, you have to check with the church you attend.

Personally, I would say that you should join the religion out of faith and not for the sake of 2B. I don’t think anyone can advise you on what practices you can continue to uphold if you baptise, it’s really up to your personal beliefs.

2B is never a guaranteed route - so you have to be aware that you may have to cater for surprises along the way.

On Nan hua, yes it’s a very popular school and staying even 5m away is no guarantee that you will get in. But within 1km, you will be guaranteed of ballot slips (Sg get 2pcs) - so there is that fighting chance.
