I recalled my dd got a slip of paper when she was P2 to say that she was in the 深广 Chinese class. So we were informed by the school leh...

Got a slip of paper? May I know what did the slip say?

Sigh, guess maybe DD has lost it again... she is quite careless about all these things. Even MC can also get lost in school... :slapshead:

If I recall correctly, the slip of paper stated her name, class, and the \"type\" of Chinese class she is in - 深广 or XXX (can't remember the exact word they used for the other class). According to my dd then, she said most of her classmates were in the 深广 class..[/quote]MommyNg, my DS did not receive any slip when he went to 深广 last yr too, so I think it depends on the teachers involved. Maybe some give out slips, some don't.

:? What is this 深广class? I thought all Nanyang students have to take Higher Chinese which includes the 深广portion in the text book.

I am not sure what are the extra things that they do in this class, but while DD attends this class once a week in a classroom in Nanyang Kindergarten, her other classmates continue with the usual Chinese lesson in their classroom. The class size is apparently quite small, like 1 or 2 students from certain class and none from certain classes. I think they learnt some tang shi among other things, but then again, I thought the usual class also teaches tang shi...

I never looked closely at her text book, didn't know there is a 深广portion.

Does anyone know if there are auditions for the String Ensemble for the 2012 Primary ones? Who do I contact?

I note that the CCA days for String Ensemble is wed and Thurs. Is that for 2 days?

How about contacting the teachers in charge?

            MOK SZE HUI [email protected]
            SHIRLEY ONG [email protected]

I believe for the 2 days, one day is for lower primary and one for upper primary.

Hi thank you for the information

Though all the students use the Higher Chinese book, the Chinese Teachers do not cover the 深广 passage in class. Higher ability students are selected to attend the classes that cover this 深广 portion.

They will have an afternoon where they showcase all the CCAs and then the children can indicate their choice to the teachers i/c.
