It's your kid's performance relative to other kids, benchmarking using bell curve.

For easy PSLE paper, A* could be higher than 91 eg 93
For difficult PSLE paper, A* could be lower than 91 eg 85

Heard that this year will be difficult like 2009? Do u think so?

Due to public outcry over 2009 Math :stompfeet: eg sweet-chocolate question, exam board has to be more sensitive so 2010 Math was relatively much easier. All four papers for 2010 are in fact considered non-tough and I suspect standard deviation was low and distribution curve is skewed and leptokurtic thus resulting in only one boy scored >280 and bulk of top kids scored 260+ instead of usual 270s. This will present problem for differentiation plus shows below par paper setting ie not leading to normal distribution, so what do you think exam board will do for this year. haha

I think this year Math should be tougher than last year. But how tough and whether the exam board dare to test market and incur public wrath again is anyone's guess. PSLE is after all a national exam - they can't be setting 4 killer papers right? Further it doesn't matter difficult or easy at all cos of T score. More of: if everyone finds it easy but your DD/DS finds it tough then :slapshead: :nailbite: πŸ˜“ and if every kid finds it difficult but your DD/DS finds it easy then :boogie: :rahrah: haha

Just my humble 2cents.[/quote]Hi Snow Crystal,

Thanks for sharing. I also think it will be a tough Maths paper this year, given last year's relatively easy paper. DD's teacher has actually mentally prepared them for it since the beginning of the year.

True, easy or tough paper, our kids will be benchmarked against the national cohort.... hopefully it's a case of ours kids finding it easy while the majority finds it difficult... πŸ˜‰

        Hi Brenda & Leanne,

Good to hear that everything is under control. Yes, life goes on as usual for us too. Last supplemenatry lesson for DD today. πŸ˜‰

DD & I are not feeling the stress yet ....BUT maybe next week, it will be a different story... :nailbite: πŸ˜“ 2 of my friends are already having dreams about PSLE.

Totally agree....a healthy mind & body = optimum performance. Of course, not forgeting Brenda's ε€©ζ—ΆοΌŒεœ°εˆ©οΌŒδΊΊε’Œ. Hopefully, all factors work in favour of the kids. Jia you! :rahrah:

        Hi Tinkerbelle,

Glad to hear that the supplmentary class was over and the kids can have more rest.

DD still brought back aother set of 2011 maths papers but I tell her to ignore by just brought the one that already completed and also teacher would not collect as she will just flash through the answer key.

        Hi Brenda,
Wow....suddenly your DD's sch is very on with maths leh. Given the time constraint now, we'll have to be selective of what papers to do. I also tell DD to do only what the teacher will collect; otherwise she'll have too much HW plus prelim papers to do. Guess it's a case of \"working smart vs working hard\". Hopefully, we are on the right track...keke

          Hi

Did anyone have a checklist for things for the kids to bring on each day for the exam? Care to share with us? Thanks

Stationeries - extra pens (especially for compo)
2B pencil, erasers, correction tapes, ruler

calculator (for math) & instrument box - protractor, set square etc

            entry proof

Difficult or easy. PSLE is once in a life time. Our children need to go through it. Just ensure that they do their best. Whatever result comes out, both parents and kids must accept it because they really put in their best effort.

At this moment, encouragement is very important.

For All P6's kids, give your best shot and never look back. Go for it. All the best.

:goodpost: All the best to your DD/DS too. :rahrah:

Thanks for well wishes. My DS will try his best. I will support him all the way.

The teacher still gives my DS a lot of English worksheet and Maths Paper. This weekend is the last weekend that we can do all the revision. Do not understand why the school teacher still squeeze so many work for the poor kids.

Guess now it's a sticky situation whether you trust the school and allow them to continue with your kid's revision and preparation,
                  OR
you prefer to take over the revision completely from now till PSLE.

Correction tapes - controversial item lol
DS said they were told it's allowed but not encouraged as it may cause sheets of papers to stick together.
He and his classmates have been doing without correction tape during exams for the whole P6 so I guess I will just let it be that way.
