All About Choosing and Buying Pianos

Yes this is certainly true and it is so too with the violin.
The Sauter sound, being much more distinct, will amplify the good and the bad equally.
So I'm paying more to sound bad, haha. But on the other hand, a more distinct piano will train a serious pianist to improve on the minor details better. This is what I think, though I'm not sure if I'm just imagining things. Maybe the experts can confirm my suspicion.
Thanks guys for all your input into my enquiries in choosing a piano. I will certainly go 'hear out' the pianos. -

Not much fluctuations in the price of K8. Two years ago, it was still selling at about $13k before discount.
my piano currently is K80, the highest end model in Kawai upright. It was 12 or 13 k when I bought it many years ago, now brand new should be around 15k i guess. You can consider that one if space constrained. Yamaha equivalent would be yus5. -

It is not the parents who should push the kids, but the teachers, since the teachers will be the most ideal person to know the capability and limits of the kids.
What parents should do is to create the ideal environment where the kids can flourish. For example getting the best piano money can buy, bringing the kids regularly to concert, play music at home, assist them in practice.
Although sometimes teachers too ambitious

Yes, Sauter is from Alvin (Raffles Piano).
Just curious, how much did you pay for yours? -

That is why three way communication and respect between teachers, parents , and students are very important.

Wow COE price? I have to consider very very hard than cos my dd2 only tingling here and there, sometimes. Does price of piano appreciate over time just like the vintage violin?

Appreciate over time? Mine won't; cos I got my ds's name engraved on it.

Unless I happen to get a buyer with the same name as my ds in future, haha. -

Some guys are crazy over cars, some audio systems. I happened to be crazy over pianos. Though I realised I can never play that well, I'm hopeful that one day, my son can play all my favourite songs for me to enjoy. That's nothing quite like 'live' performance, if you know what I mean.
