      Maths Isnt Fun:
who noes how to do paper 1 the question abt the columns A,B,C,D? and the one abt the how mny days it takes to read finish a book?

For the column one I divided 432 by 4 and it gave me 108 so it is either column A or D as it has no remainder . It means that 432 is in \"row 108\" In odd number rows like 1 or 3, the end number is at column D. As 108 is an even number, the right column should be A.

For the book question, as from monday-thursday is 15 pages per day and friday-sunday is 30 pages per day, if you start from friday, 1 week will be 150pages. You divide 525 by 150 and round down to 3 weeks. Which is 21 days. then you 525-150x3=75 is the number of pages remaining. After 21 days, you end up on a Friday again. So for Saturday,Sunday,Monday, the total is 3 days to get 75 pages and so it is 21+3=24.

I got the book question careless...

i'm very worried for my DD as she is very afraid of the Chinese and Science papers as she is not good in the subjects... she is having trouble sleeping well. she gets only borderline As for the subjects.. she wants to have 4 A*s! i'm worried for her.... i can't believe children can have so much stress too! :nailbite:

Dear smartiemommy, depending on her school standard and difficulty of the prelims, her usual performance of borderline As is not impossible to translate to A*. But if her school papers are set at normal standards and her usual is borderline As but her aim is 4A*, as a mother, you have to manage her expectations for PSLE. You have to give her lots of TLC (tender loving care) and encouragement at this moment. Please tell her to just do her best and don't think so much. We can't control results outcome. Do watch her emotional and mental health closely since she's not sleeping well. For you and your DD jiayou jiayou :rahrah: :rahrah:

I am also worried about my chinese paper as it is my weakest subject. 😞 I spent the whole day memorising a chinese composition, just in case 🙂

You have come this far so press on for the last leg. For compo, since so last minute already, go memorize some good phrases and words for compo beginning and endings for a few different scenarios, you should be fine. Read some model compos. Just don't write out of point, write logical plot and remember to write compo number. If you are weak in Chinese, please choose picture compo, don't bother about ming ti. Unless the picture very cheem haha. And leave time to check for wrong words. All the best! :rahrah:

No offence but in this case, it is the parents' expectations that make the children stress!

When they are saying these, wonder if they have imagined what if they are in the shoes of those who are just average or even below and it is not due to laziness for not studying hard enough but that these children may be late bloomers or slower than others and had worked and studied very hard!

I said this because I know of some parents who simply ignored the hard work their children put in and focus only on the results. They were reprimanded or even punished when they could not get the results their parents expected. One of them was even forced to still attend school and tuition although she was having a high fever!

                    Hi!

Just like to share, for chinese composition there are 3 parts you can improve on:
                    1. 吸引人的开头段
                    2. 好词好句
                    3. 有内涵的结语 (最后一段)

most students can do pt 1 and 2 if they work hard in memorizing.
for pt 3, you need to brainstorm of the moral u want to tell before you start your composition.
A sample of a good conclusion is
                    原来危险并不可怕,害怕面对危险的心理比害怕本身更可怕。

Good luck to all P6 students and parents! 🙂

ya parents cannot simply demand for good results. We need to earn that right to scold our kids. If we can't solve the problem sum ourselves how can we expect our kids to solve them. If we don't understand grammar, how can we expect those little ones to write good comp....No lah, not true. If we don't know, I think the best way is to study with them. We can then understand their problem and the level of difficulty. We can then empathise and encourage. Those times were so painful and fearful and I am so glad that it is over.

By the way, I can understand why firefly38 is worried with 93 marks. To get to the top school, the kid needs a 270 to be comfortable. If a kid is not that strong in the 2 languages, he/she need to strive for perfect score for math and science (very difficult) to cover the shortfall.
