Hi sparks, Will the school penalise your dd for changing CCAs, as in will she lose CCA points? Also, if your child’s in the school team for badminton or basketball you can expect rather intensive practices - at least 3 times a week, if not more.

Does the LEAP system apply to IP school? Do the IP kids need the CCA points?

They do calculate LEAP points but CCA points aren't as important as for O level students. But good LEAP points help in your portfolio.

                thanks jtoh.

But it doesnt matter how many points they get right anyway they will proceed to the relevant JC (as they are IP). What’s the portfolio for?

Don’t think the points matter bec they won’t be using it in IP. But I think strong LEAPS points would be useful in scholarship applications or even Uni application.

                      Hi jtoh,

I understand that in order to get A1 in CCA record, the IP student have to achieve 25point & above. Is there any different that the student who achieve 26points & 52points? Both of them will be awarded A1 in CCA record right?

Why I ask this is I don’t understand why some student (one of them is my girl) will hold so many leadership position; prefect in training(year 2), house comm., congress, isn’t is the maximum point awarded for Leadership is 12points thru out their 4 years? At the sametime they have their own CCA and RS eg OM

I do ask some of this girl, can they handle all this, as year 2 academic might be more difficult. What they said is fun mah join all this…

Hans congrats on your DD's leadership positions. I guess girls like your DD are over achievers :imcool: who somehow can balance their time and studies. If her GPA is decent, why discourage. It is not easy to be selected. I guess it's not about hitting just the max LEAPS points for IP students. When applying for overseas studies or scholarships, I reckon her exceptional leadership positions would put her in a very favorable position. Let's draw parallel to a sports CCA student. The time your DD would be spending on her activities is equivalent to their sports training everyday or every other day. If your DD happens to be also a sports CCA student with intensive training, :salute: :salute: I guess you can review if her grades start to slide. If not, just let her enjoy her IP life!
