Mighty Math - Discussion

Hi wan2bdad,Not really standing in the class room to observe the class but at the end of their lesson, I had gone into the common class room to pick up my DS.The teacher there made a point to brief me about my child's progress after each lesson. Their class room has an open-concept and you can observe the rest of the students' work.
Also saw all the kids busy doing exam papers. Are there examinations for P1 and P2 kids? I thought MOE has gotten rid of that recently? Quite worried that my DS has to handle exams and tests.
Thanks, so the teacher will also show you the rest of the students' work. What
exam papers are these? Does mighty math set their own worksheets or do they take papers from other schools? -
Not really, I was just kapo over other students’ work. For my DS, he is doing mighty math worksheets and not worksheets from other schools.
-
Thanks wan2bdad for the info, just one more qn hope you don’t mind, is the mighty math worksheets harder than the examination papers set by good schools?
-
hi wan2bdad,
are all Mighty Maths wksheets done in class, or allowed to bring home do homework ? any homework to be done on daily basis ? if Yes, each day roughly need to spend how much time ?
is Mighty Maths worksheets standard similar, lower or higher - compared to P1 EPH Andrew Er, Simon Eio worksheets available at Popular ? -
hi happy2bemummy and Phtthp,
I am not sure about the primary school level as my DS is young and he is taking only the 45 minutes pre-school program.
For pre-school program, he completes a booklet in class and takes home another one for homework.
The teacher has advised me to divide the homework to be completed in 2 to 3 days.
Since the teacher has already taught part of the work in class, I will usually let my DS completest his homework himself.
I have gone through some of the difficult parts of the homework with my DS and some of the questions are really interesting. Things I dont like in my school days … the teacher termed them thinking skill questions. The other questions are related to learning Math concepts.
My DS likes the hands-on part, learning shapes.
For primary school level, I am completely out-of-touch… really need to learn more from other parents here. I can checkout with the teachers. -

Hi SP Mummy,
My DS is in Punggol class, 2.30pm timeslot. I saw 6 to 8 kids today but there are 3 teachers. I think there are more students in the second session, 4pm to 5.30pm timeslot.
Hi wan2bdad,
I have signed up for my daughter yesterday and i have quoted your son name. You will get discount too.
Thanks. -
hi wan2bdad & SP_Mummy,
for discount, must both kids come from the same centre, or can be different ? -
Hi SP Mummy,
May I know your DD’s name?
Thanks.
Hi Phtthp,
Not quite sure, I have to check with the teachers again.
I remember they operate a few centres in the East, so the discount may apply to the branches under the same management. -

Hi wan2bdad,
I just PM u. Thanks. -
Hi Phtthp,
Got a chance to "kaipo kaipo" when a mum was talking to the teacher at Punggol centre today . Her daughter was from Learning Lab too. She took 2 different math classes (is it necessary?).
They have different levels of worksheets to cater to for different learners… so her daughter is doing more difficult mock exam papers. I think this month is exam month right?
