      Hi every 2011 PSLE parent,

I am writing to beg πŸ™ your kindness to share with all the 2012 PSLE's parent which are the most effective assessment books/resources so far you have use to revise with your kid for all subjects?

Next year will be my turn.. very worried :nailbite: as my kid is only a average boy so far.

We mainly depended on the past year top school exam papers. DS does not enjoy doing assessment books.
For Maths : We used On Sponge(Need to order online) and Raffles Tough Maths(can buy from Popular).
For Science : Guide book is a must, text book simply does not have enough info. We only bought one assessment book conquer series.
For English : Did not buy any assessment books. Mainly did the exam papers. And for some components like Synthesis and Transformation did additional practise from 2009 exam papers(online).

      http://www.orlesson.org/orp/EnglishExam.html
      http://www.orlesson.org/orp/MathExam.html
      http://www.orlesson.org/orp/ScienceExam.html

DS is not very hardworking, so this is all we could do  and this is all we had time for, what with HW and sup classes.
      Hope this helps.

      Hi Tisha,

      :thankyou:

          Hi Elpis,

The score for Higher MT will not be reflected in the T-score and can only be added to the T-score if you apply for a SAP sch.

The students will get a grade for HTML: Distinction (3 marks will be awarded), Merit (2 marks will be awarded) and Pass (1 mark will be awarded). If you don't apply for a SAP sch, the HMTL grade will allow you to continue taking HMTL in sec sch.

          Hope this helps. πŸ˜‚

          :thankyou: :thankyou:

Just to add, my daughter takes HMT and we were briefed earlier by principal that the bonus pts for HMT grade is applicable to SAP school application only if your child meets the cut off point for that school. Say if COP for SAP school X is 260 and your child's score is 260 and scored a distination, then his/her agg score is 263. If your child's score is 259, then the 3 bonus points cant be used and his/her score remains at 259. Hope this is helpful as many parents are not aware of this criteria. Cheers ![/quote]Orangejuice,

I don't think what you wrote is correct. If a kid has to meet the COP before using his bonus points, there is no need for bonus points because he's already met the COP and would already have been admitted to the school. Secondly, the current year's COP is determined by the aggregate of the last person entering the school, so there's no COP to meet so to say.

Somehow doesn't make sense right ?
You take HCL for the bonus points to get into SAP schools.
If your t score is 259 and the COP is 260, precisely that's when the bonus points come in handy right ?
if the bonus points only count if you meet the COP, then what's the use of it ?

Read somewhere that the bonus points only work if the student is within top 30% of the cohort or has a minimum t score of ?250.
                  I think this make sense.

the correct understanding is this :

HMT's bonus point is to help you get into the SAP school.

e.g. NYPS girl gets PSLE t-score 247, and distinction for HMT. The cut off point for NYPS girls to enter NYGH is 250, and hence this girl with 247 plus HMT distinction will be able to get into NYGH by S1 posting

another eg : t-score 248 plus HMT merit, so it is 248+2 and still gets into NYGH for the NYPS girls.

another eg : non-NYPS girls trying to get into NYGH and the COP is say 263. she gets 260 t-score plus HMT distinction, hence = 260+3, so gets in; or 261+2 oso can ......

this is VERY clearly presented in a ppt slide by many schools, including NYPS of course

It seemed that it was to give the child with HMT an \"advantage\" when applying for SAP school. if COP is 260 and child A with 260 pass for HMT (which then equates agg score to 261) vs child B with 260 w/o HMT, and if both choose the same SAP school with only 1 vacancy left , then Child A will have priority over Child B. This was how it was explained to us during briefing by principal.

Took out DS1's NDS to charge last night.

Luckily still managed to find it after I hid it away many months ago.
He still needs to wait in school till after 11+ to come home with his little brother though.

Btw when is the PSLE marking break ?
                      Hi ngbrdad,
PSLE marking break is from 17 to 20 Oct. :imcool:

So Student A has a higher aggregate than Student B. Student A gets admitted.
