Oh..ok. that means not necessarily must get band 1. but i wonder if it is wiser to take CL and score higher instead of taking HCL, get lower mark but hv extra PSLE points?

      Think U mistaken, dyh.

ALL Pri Sch kids Must Take MT, in Pei Hwa = CL, unless Got Medical Exemption.
HCL is Additional Subj on Top of CL.

For Kids doing HCL, the CL Lessons Will be conducted in HCL in the Banding Class πŸ˜‚

For Students taking Additional HCL Subj, will get -
      Extra 1 pt for Pass
      Extra 2 pt for Merit
      Extra 3 pts for Distintion
When Apply for SAP Sec Sch's Cut-Off Pt.

If Not Apply for SAP Sec Sch, HCL No Use. πŸ˜‰

Thanks for the clarification. So..it is best to take up HCL if offered. Becos even if the worst happens and one fails HCL, it should not affect the T score, right? πŸ˜‰

Something new and interesting in PH website.

They sliced the past years PSLE score to include comparison against similar schs (SAP)?

I didn't know that last yr's T-score was a whopping 230.8 (big jump over 2009). That's very close to some of the top GEP schools.

My impression - rightly or wrongly - is that SAP schs perform better in PSLE than average. So when they include them in the comparison, it's like no turning back. It's like telling everyone better keep up the standard. πŸ˜“

Reminds me of the general who destroyed the bridge to tell his soldiers either victory or death. Talk about pressure!

        Bro Mark,
You are right! We have all jumped into a pressure cooker!

Wonder what the school means by \"similar schools\". GEP schools including GEP scores, GEP schools excluding GEP scores or some non-GEP schools like Rulang?

My Gal's opinion - unlikely to fail HCL, Unless Really written Off-Topic and Perform Badly at Paper 2.
Coz If in P5, HCL score less than Merit, Sch Will advice the kid to drop the subj in P6 .... πŸ˜‚

Mrs Foo is an excellent P ..... result sure go up one πŸ˜‰
I think she concentrate on the general cohort abit more compare to previous P, so the overall score is moving upwards.

Really hope she can stay longer, but the P sch rotation is about 7 yrs.
I think she came to PHPPS in 2008 if I am not wrong, then she will be leaving in 2013. If this esitmate is correct, it also means that she produce a PSLE top student in St Hilda's before she leave. I really hope she can produce a top PSLE student in PHPPS before she leave too.

You watch too much VV Drama liao ... πŸ˜‚

The pressure cooker meter is determined by the parents and child.
If you want your child to be in the top class, pressure meter is 90
If you want your child to be in the top 4 class, pressure meter is 75
If you want your child to be at the median, presurre meter is 70

Actually in PHPPS, the record is very good.
                >250 (which is top 10% of national cohort) it is 25% which is like the top 90 students .. about top 2 classes --> means 1 in 4 student can go into IP school.
                >230 (Mean score) average student is about 230 which is also very good result.

83.5% make it to Express Stream (about top 60% of the national cohort)

So ... let the school pressure and we monitor ... πŸ˜‰
Remember must MONITOR their work. πŸ˜„
If school pressure and we also pressure ... then the poor child will be placed in a HIGH pressure cooker environment. Afterall, not all kids can take such pressure.

What do the A*C and A*A mean in the table? Is it results from A* to C and A* to A respectively?

                    Bro Trap,
Think the top PSLE student from St. Hilda's was generated in the year after she left.

P sch rotation is 7 yrs, not 5 yrs?

                        Oil .... Memory failing.
P rotation is between 5-7 yrs. Some can stay a bit longer if they retire in that sch.
