Hi,
Thanks. Yes she is playing the trumpet. I think she is keen to continue with the band. Whether if can use that for DSA one day :? -
Hi Jsmum,
With SA 2 approaching, how are you preparing your kids???
I find the english paper very cheem and "extraordinary" and different from those top school papers. So wondering how to prepare her for those statement questions…
How does the streaming works?? Based on total scores? -
Hi again,
I am clueless about DSA :? . Hope there are other MBS mummies who are silent readers will help us understand more about it.
My girl noticed the top 5 in class postion all went to the same class in primary 3. I believe MBS will put your kid in a class best suited to his/her abilities just like grouping the kids into CL classes.
I have not done any revision with them for their SA2. My boy did not go school this week and guess he has miss the \"mock exam\" for spelling and listening. Well he recovered in time for the children day celebration today and is so excited to go school today. He always get sick during/before exams. Last year he got chicken pox on eve of his SA2 exam. In fact attending those enrichment classes for the whole year should have prepared them for their exams. Not to worry...most important they rest well before exams and go for exams in good health.
Yes...I find MBS English exam unusual. For P3, during CA1 and SA1, the kids are not required to write the whole compo. They are asked specifically to write begining and ending only. Only CA2, the kids are asked to write whole compo. Wonder is it same as other schools? Prior to SA2, teachers would have given the kids lots of practise. Once the kids bring back the graded papers, we will know where are their weak areas and we can coach them those areas before their exam. Less than a month to go before SA2

Not just that.... I remember the P2 SA1 paper. The questions were like
I find it alittle judgemental especially the part of determining if the sentence is a realism or a fantasy.... Kids at that age might not be able to distinguish between myth and fact well.
I intend to look at what they do for hougton Miffin but don't seem solid.... then guide them along that line. Meanwhile for maths and chinese, will definitely let them practise on those top school papers.
But I gather that at P3, there are more stress... How does the foundation maths,etc... streaming come in place??? When will that happen. P4? Stress that the system define the kids' potential so early. It's really not fair to late bloomers. So as parents, we need to hold the ball tightly and make sure we don't drop it....
It's really tiring sometimes that I feel like telling my kids just do whatever they want, they are responsible for their own life. But it's easier said than done. -
MMM:
Ha ha...I remembered the myth and fact section. I was wondering the purpose of that section. My boy was arguing with me the night after the English exam. He done badly in that section. Don't worry...there is no more myth and fact questions in P3. My girl seems to be struggling in comprehension now.

My girl form teacher told me that grades slip in P3. It willl stabilize in P4 and the next slip in grades will be in P5 and the slip in P5 will be greater than P3 :scared:. Yes more stress, for the parents. The foundation class will be in P5 since I saw the foundation textbooks only comes in P5. Think it will mean that the kids will be streamed again after P4 exams. There is a talk for P4 parents in my girl schedule. Maybe to explain to parents about streaming kids in different classes like normal chinese class, higher chinese class and foundation class. I think not all kids take higher chinese for PSLE. Well I will know if I am right when my girl is P4 next year. -
Any mummies going for the mooncake festival celebration in school?
My kids are excited to go. I went for last year celebration. There were chinese riddle questions and answers and games. Not sure for this year. I enjoyed last year celebration

Hi,
Most likely we are attending as well though my youngest also have phonics lesson on friday evening.
My P2 girl’s CL teacher told me that 2 students will be performing kuai ban. They are currently learning from my kids’ chinese speech & drama teacher. It seems that these 2 students started the S&D classes last year when they were in P1. -
MMM:
I think when I reached the school at about 7pm, the 2 students were performing this segment. It was well performed and they looked like P1 or P2 kids. My boy and hb were on stage for the \"pomelo-peeling\" competition. Maybe I was late because I felt the whole celebration was a bit too rush. We stayed till 8pm and my kids still refused to go home. It was a good turn-out that day.Hi,

Did your hubby win the competition??? Haha I recalled that a father and son team won and the father was really fast. I believe the mother can't do that without worrying about breaking their nails
Yah those 2 girls who did the kuai ban are P2 students.
I was very impressed with the wushu performance. I thought it was awesome. -
No. My son and hb are on the left of the winner. Everyone on the stage were given a prize. My hb had a sore thumb that night
My boy was excited when the dragon came out. His classmate was one of the kids holding the dragon.
