      MMM:
      Hi,

My P2 girl's CL teacher told me that 2 students will be performing kuai ban.
I think when I reached the school at about 7pm, the 2 students were performing this segment. It was well performed and they looked like P1 or P2 kids. My boy and hb were on stage for the \"pomelo-peeling\" competition. Maybe I was late because I felt the whole celebration was a bit too rush. We stayed till 8pm and my kids still refused to go home. It was a good turn-out that day.

Did your hubby win the competition??? Haha I recalled that a father and son team won and the father was really fast. I believe the mother can't do that without worrying about breaking their nails

Yah those 2 girls who did the kuai ban are P2 students.

I was very impressed with the wushu performance. I thought it was awesome.

No. My son and hb are on the left of the winner. Everyone on the stage were given a prize. My hb had a sore thumb that night

My boy was excited when the dragon came out. His classmate was one of the kids holding the dragon.

The last time I checked with SBF, they only accept members such as temples, etc… they do not accept individual members. Was asking on behalf of a friend.

I heard from kid’s classmate’s mum who got in via SBF route, she was very active in a particular temple (can’t remember which one but seems like those big ones). She got in via the temple recommendation but they also moved within 1km of the school.

Another friend of mine is teaching buddhist studies on a voluntary basis in some temple. They are staying in bedok area and told me that they can try for MBS as well under this SBF route as a result of their contribution in the temple. But in the end, they decided not to due to location and also the chinese std which they are concerned of their child’s ability to cope.

Sorry can’t be of much help as unlike those clan association, joining SBF is not that clear cut.

It is a win win if you are a member of SBF and you stay within 1km.

Being a member qualify you under phase 2B. Under phase 2B, there are also grassroot leaders that you’ve to compete with. Note that the school does not accept potential parent volunteers so there is one group less to compete with. If you look at 2010 P1 registration trend, there was 54 vacancies, 55 applied. I think the end result is probably 1 withdrawn so there was no balloting.

But it is a botherline case, if one did not withdraw, then there would have been balloting under phase 2B.

As the school is now in its new site, this probably draw alot more interest from other parents.

                    Hi MMM,
hai.... is so headache. Are you staying near MBS too? I was thinking which one will stand more chance to get in. As for Temaske Pri i am within 1-2 KM but have to do PV, for MBS I am out of any KM and have to join the SBF and for Kong Hwa i can change my add to my dad place cos he stay within 1 KM but not easy to get in too so my case for these sch is like half half chances leh....

I used to study in MBS so it was relatively easy for my kids to get in. Quite a no. of parents here are either old boys, old girls or member of SBF. But I've met quite a no. of parents in MBS who got in as they are within 1km. They are the self proclaimed lucky parents who tried their luck.

Just curious, why are you considering MBS??? :? I am saying it from the perspective that there is no distance or SBF priority at this point. At least for the other 2, you can still consider under distance though I agree it's challenging.

So far, I've had 2 friends who PV for Temasek and managed to get it. One of them is using the mum's address so they fall under 1-2km even though the mum is staying within 1 km. She was happy that they managed to escape balloting. The daughter is in P1 this year. I think this will also apply to you (if going by the books) if you are going to try for Kong Hwa under your father's address. Use of caregivers address who stay within 1km will only entitle you to 1-2 km range and not within 1km.

For MBS, if you've SBF but not staying within 1km, maybe you still have a chance based on historical trends. But it's still risky. Similarly, if you stay within 1km but not a member, it's also very very risky.

For Temasek and Kong Hwa, suggest that you study the past P1 registration trend in this website to gauge your chance. I am not sure when your child is due for registration but do bear in mind, even for PV, there is a time frame and also seeing what other parents commented, it's not like you apply, you get it for some schools. The school will consider your value add even before selecting the parents for interview. In any case, it's good to select preparations early.

                      Good luck.

                        Hi MMM,
so dose that mean if my mother in law is under the SBF we will fall into the phrase 2B and we dont have to ballot? hehe i like the MBS because they got buddhism teaching and their result is not bad. I myself like buddhism teaching very much it brings happiness to your life.

                        As for Kong Hwa,
actually i feel they are very preasure for my kid so still half hearted.

                        Temaske,
I scare even PV cannot get in.

Thanks for your help, i am really confuse abt all this. 🙂
