Essential:
Thanks but answer sheet showed 110 actually my DS also got 84 so not sure right or wrong?
Should be 84. Can always check.
2 numbers are 60 and 24.
1/3 of60 = 20
5/6 of 24 = 20.
Therefore 1/3 of A = 5/6 of B.
ALso their difference 60 - 24 = 36.
Therefore i think our answer is correct. 60 + 24 = 84

There were 350 children enrolled in the Eliot Drama Academy in 2009. 2/7 of the children were girls. Additional children joined the drama academy in 2010. For every 2 girls who joined the drama academy, 1 boy joined the drama academy. If there was an equal number of boys and girls in 2010, how many boys joined the academy in that year?
My DD solution:
2009
Girls:2u
Boys: 5u
Total 350 children
7u=> 350
1u=> 50
2u=> 100 girls
5u=> 250 boys
2010
2G+1B = 3C
250-100=150
We got stuck here. Pls help -

In 2010, 2u of girls joined and 1u of boys joined.
number of girls = 100 + 2u
number of boys = 250+1u
Since number of boys = number of girls, 100 + 2u =250+1u
1u = 150
150 boys joined the drama academy in 2010.

Hi need help. Please help me with this … In s school , 60 percent of the pupils are girls . 10 percent of the girls and 25 percent of the boys go to school by car . Wat percentage of the pupils of the puppy’s go to school by car? Pls show me the step. Thank u in advance
-
10 % out of 60% girls = 6%
25% out of 40% boys = 10%
So it should be 16% of the pupils go to school by car.

Q16 from Ai Tong Paper
Agnes made some fruit pies. She gave some of them to her neighbour and collected $14.40 after selling 3/5 of the remaining pies for $1.20 each. She then had 1/5 of the original number of fruit pies left. How many fruit pies did she give her neighbour? -

Total = number given to neighbour + number remaining
3/5 of number remaining = 14.40/1.20 = 12
number remaining = 12/3 x 5 = 20
2/5 of number remaining = 2/5 x 20 = 8 = 1/5 of total
Total = 5 x 8 = 40
Number given to neighbour = 40 - 20 = 20
cheers. -

14.4/1.20= 12
Please draw model
3u =12
5u=20
2u=8
1/5 =8
5/5 =40
40-20=20
