There's another title called A*Maths Problems written by Federick Ho. Published by Learning Interactive. This is a set of 6 books...Whole Numbers and Decimals, Fractions, Rate & Speed etc.

      Hi Janet,
I have the above 2 books. After been through the PSLE with my ds1 last year, I think your friend is right to say that the child must be able to do most of the questions in these 2 books. Many of the difficult questions seen in the P5 and P6 exam papers can be solved using the method used in the book. Maybe you can make use of this nov/dec holidays to look through the book and practice with your child. Just my humble opionion. Hope you do not mind. 🙂

      Hi PiggyLalala,
Pls don't say that...parents with P5s going on to P6 next year will greatly appreciate your advice. The Maths books from Bras Basah came highly recommended. Maybe should start a thread in P6 about PSLE preparation after SA2 😉
You are correct. The Maths books from Bras Basah were also recommended by my ds1's school last year. However I did not really look through the questions. So could not really comment on them.

        Hi Champion,

I'll be very selective with Math & Chinese assessment books for my daughter going to P2...might get that assessment. http://i53.tinypic.com/uc7zr.jpg\">

        Hi PiggyLalala,
That A* Maths is highly recommended by a friend. In fact, 2 of my friends told me the school teacher ordered those books for the class.
My SIL called me last night...told me she will pass me all the P6 assessment books. Just sms-ed her this morning...to pass me everything, guide books or assessment books...her daughter is only child.

Maths is difficult to outsource entirely though. Especially from P5 onwards, Maths become much tougher.

My dd attended group tuition but frequently got stuck doing tuition homework usually top schools exam papers, very challenging. Class size is rather huge so teacher couldn’t address every child & every question. Still need to be coach at home by dh on those sums she couldn’t solve.

Nevertheless, dh said it’s more manageable to coach this way. Rather than having 100% load on him to coach dd. We’ve onsponge & Ammiel’s book. dh refers to these 2 books & selectively coach dd some concept.

                Hi sista,

I had bought one book \"Focus on maths\" (will check the exact title for you) during end of P5 and DD self study for some P6 new topics as this book help to guide her from basic to advance for the new topics that she hasn't learn.

As for the onsponge book, try to let your dd follow the sample given and see whether she can handle. Alternative is attending their year end or mid year workshop.

Sista feel pain with your money :moneyflies:

                Just my 2 cents thought

I've outsourced son's Math completely...it's completely GREEK to hubby. Trying to arrange tuition for next year but was told P6 is very busy and to make things worse, tutor's schedule is fully packed.

As for Onsponge maths, that book was ordered by school teacher. Won't be buying any more assessment bcos he uses tutor's materials.
