Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Primary/Preschool)

hi maisy and titank,'

Dear Fellow Parents
My child is coming to 3 years old (born in 2006) so rightfully should be a Nursery-1 student. My problem is because he is a year -end child, when compared to his peers who may be born in Jan- July 2006, he is still a \"baby\" as he has yet to turn 3 and hence is not able to handle separation anxiety as well as tho who had already turned 3 since 6 months ago....etc etc...
Same as your case I also have a DD born in 2006 but like on 2nd half of 2006. Being trying to think whether to get into chinese enrichment program in Jan 2010 or Jul 2010.
just saw this note.
my ds2 is also a year end kid; don't understand much chinese too; probably one of the reason why he doesn't know what the teacher wants during the Berries Trial.
I am trying to postpone his chinese enrichment (if needed) til K1 cos at PreN, while he is ok with separation anxiety, he is one tough/active kid to handle. i don't want to have to pay $360+/term for him to go to school to sit at the naughty corner. but every weekend when i brought ds1 to lessons, ds2 will always express his excitement followed by disappointment when i told him, 'your turn next time'. -

thanks! so it is indeed slightly cheaper.
Just check with Busy Bee, they only have course from K1 onwards.

My DD is attending the Woodlands branch too.
Which Berries branch is your DD attending ? When a child have M.C., we can also give them the M.C. and they will give us a voucher equivalent to the fees of one lesson, which can be deducted from the fees of the next term.bobianah:
Just wanted to add that yes, the customer service at Berries is very good indeed. When I went on a holiday and missed 2 lessons, they actually arranged for make up lessons for my DD.
At first, I thot she was going to join another existing class. To my surprise, they had specially arranged a 1-1 class for her!
Needless to say, i was impressed! Top marks to them for that!
At Woodlands Berries, the center head even gave me a new bag when she saw that my girl's bag had a broken zip ! When the pages of their books kept falling out, the center head replaced with new books without me having to ask.
I would certainly recommend them highly.
Thanks for the tip, will remember the M.C. thing. Yes, their service is really good and classes are fun. Definitely would recommend them! -
Someone recommended YuQuan’s Zijing (字经) class. Has anyone tried this? Appreciate all feedback!

yup, i m interested in yuquan classes too. they have chinese idiom literacy course also. anyone able to comment on whether they are able to bring the lesson alive, making it interesting despite the seemingly more advanced material? my concern is it is too \"heavy\" for kids at 3 plus to 4.
thanks! -

My 4yo daughter started with Yuquan when she was 3.5yo. She loves the classes. Definitely not \"too heavy\". She spouts several times more idioms now than I hope to understand myself in a lifetime. Highly recommended by me, though I feel the management could have been a bit more flexiblehquek:

Hi All,
Should I put my 2 kids in 1 chinese enrichemnt centre? Eg Molin or Berries? As I would have DD in Preschool & DS in P1 next year.
Berries seem to be popular among in here especially the Preschool stage. How about for P1?Would Berries able to substain thier standard? -
titank:
i had heard that P1 students with weak chinese foundation may find Berries tough to catch up.

I thought so too cos I was checking out nearby enrichment classes for DD since her Chinese is so weak. Actually, I thought Berries only has classes for Higher Chinese and writing for P1 onwards (excluding the holiday courses)?
