For PVs out there, do you think the school prefers \"non-working\" parents when it comes to choosing PVs?

Yes I think so, because such parents would be able to contribute during school hours etc, as opposed to working parents who need to take leave or can only do during weekends.

For my case, the interviewers asked me that question during the PV interview, whether me as a working mum will be able to contribute during school hours. Of coz I said I could! LOL.

Thanks! So, it is not too early for me to start volunteer work now for 2011 registration?

I hoping to start early so that I have more time to complete the requsite hours... πŸ˜‰

By the way, does anyone believe that, for some schools, it may be necessary to have some form of connection with the schools so that you can get into the PV group?

Depends on the school, some may not accept PVs who are registering in 2011 now as they be giving priority to those registering in 2010 first. For my case, I signed up as a PV in Oct 2006 for my child registering in 2008. The school continued to accept PVs in the same cohort up till May 2007.

For connections to join as PVs, I am not too sure, but all Nan Hua, HenryPark and Pei Hwa rejected my PV applications.

            Hey all

Anyone here applied St Hilda's PV?
Don't mind share wif me........and what ur advise.....

What mgmt said will call us during Aug'2008 time......did anyone rec'd calls from them yet?
            [/b]
Sorry........i need to highlight. My boy is born in 2003. 😎
            Hi Janice

If your boy is born in 2003, which means, his registration will be next year 2009? If so, I don't think your PV is accepted. You could have started PV at least 2 years in advanced.

Anyway, for PV at St Hildas, your chances of getting in will be high ONLY if you are less than 1km.

You might want to call up the school to check on your PV status instead of waiting.

For schools who don't stipulate a PV Form to complete, we have to write a \"cover letter\"? Anyone has any idea how long this letter is, usually? 1 page?

One page should be enough, state your qualifications, interests, expertise. Brag about all the things you can do. Talk about how keen you want ur child to join the school. But after all these, they may still reject u, esp for those popular schools.

I heard of one friend who was rejected as a PV, then she appealed to the principal, and later had to submit a proposal for the school's project. End up she still didnt get accepted as a PV, πŸ˜›

U just have to write one and change the school names if u are applying to a few schools. Below is the list of activities i put in my letter to one particular school but I didnt get accepted to this school, LOL. THe one I got accepted to had a generic form to fill.

\"Events Organizations, Assistance during school activities/excursions,
IT, Art & Craft, Photography, Library, Gardening/Landscape, Bulletin editorial, Administration work, General\"

Has anybody applied PV to Henry park for registration in 2010. My son is born in 2004 and I applied for PV this year in June. So far I haven’t got any reply. Did anybody else apply and got a response.

I live in the west and when we approached Rulang they asked us to come only next year. What other schools I can approach this year for PV for 2010 registration.

                        Please kindly let me know.
