Just for the sake of discussion.

I will probably be stoned. I've read from posts that many schools rushed through the syllabus when schools re-open for P6. I wonder would it be better if lessons continue during P5 Nov/Dec but at half-day. This might benefit students who need more time to understand and absorb the syllabus.

      Stones coming...........

      where ? where ?

nov/dec classes quite difficult to arrange, teachers need to spend time with family and take holidays too, and some teachers may also retire or transfer at year end ..... so it is more logical to hold supp lessons during the mar / jun holidays

Hmmm…the outward bound tourism industry will be affected.

The retiring and transfer portion can be managed.

Yes, P6 teachers with kids will stone me. It’s the only time when they can go on hols with their kids and family.

I thought supple lessons are only for kids from top 2 classes. Remedial lessons are also held durng Mar and Jun hols?

Noooooo… I treasure the holidays, esp year-end long hols. That’s when my kids receive real education from field trips to playing board games to doing home projects… anything other than mindless drilling on schwork n assessments which they got to do during term time in order to score in exams 😛

I think all of us here are not being kiasu by early early preparation. Better than last min panic. Also, some subjects cannot have last min prep. eg language esp chinese.

Like what LKY said, need to start speaking mandarin to our kids. I think speaking to kids in mandarin since P1 is not being kiasu.

DS just completed PSLE. I regretted not speaking to him in mandarin. A lot of simple basic words also he don’t know. I bought a lot of guide books for him. He may be able to memorise, and used the knowledge for paper 2, but he doesn’t know how to use the words in compo vs another child who speaks mandarin at home, and has been using the words in his everyday life.
