Hello, I am a Shichida mummy of a 31 month old boy. Wondering if there are any Shichida parents here who would like to share about their home practice? Hopefully we can motivate each other!

At Tensai in KL (where we're based), there are 2 groups of linking memory sheets: larger cards for 2-year old and smaller cards (with CD narration) for older children. My 2.5 years old is doing the smaller cards, 10 at a time. He loves doing LM a lot. I think it helps develop his memory and language skills very well. For 5-6 year old, you can use the same set too. When completed, you'd need to start making your own cards or exchange with other parents.

@ pinkiepirate: Keep doing home practice, it'd all be worth it by the time your boy goes to Primary School. For me, I'm motivated that with at least photographic memory and speed reading skills, my boy would be able to learn efficiently and spend a lot of time on his areas of interest, and enjoy his life. When he works, the same efficiency will enable him to have a good work-life balance. Feel free to read my blog posts on our home practice at http://www.mummysreviews.com/2011/09/16/developmental-milestones-vee-30-months-old/

MieVee - hello! nice to "meet you". Yes, we are a serious Shichida family! We have been applying the method since Ryan was about 8-9 months old, and it works for us, with great results. I will visit your blog -thanks for sharing!

Great! I just read many of your posts. Our boys are about the same age, mine's Feb, yours is Jan. Exactly... Shichida parents who do home practice will really see the benefits. And I agree with what you mentioned on a post: the method's core is on the parents and SM is indeed a parenting philosophy (I mentioned this in a blog post too! Ha!)

                \"See\" you around! 🙂

Hi MieVee, oh it’s so nice to meet a parent who understands that the method is about how we parent. As for home practice, too often I get people complaining that the parents must do home practice - I always tell them it’s the same as learning any other skill, like playing the piano - you have to practice and practice and practice, and the child cannot do it by himself.

I note you are based in KL - would you like anything from Singapore - we are travelling back to KL next week. Would be no trouble to help you get anything you need from here.
