I have a friend who had applied for SOTA but his father wanted him to go NUSHS as he is very good in math and science. But the problem is he is really interested in piano and violin as he plays them very well. Any advice on what school should he apply for??

Quite a few NPVC prize winners are studying in non-specialised schools such as RI, RJC, SNGS, DHS, etc. My take is that your friend can continue to do music even if he does not study in SOTA. However, he has to manage his time really well.
