What do u mean by express class?
Express class E and F will be 2 good classes for main stream students with good SA2 results.

Are you talking abt the P2s going on P3s? If so, I think they no longer have the Es and Fs segregation. I recall the teachers saying that each of the P3 classes will be a multi talented class. :boogie: -

Hi phtthp, so what does each class strong in P Q R? No wonder they split the dd & her gd friend. The teacher just said that they split to let the students mixed with one another. How innocent I am.seems like E and F classes appear to be equivalent to what parents normally call ... Higher Ability classes (HA) - some bright girls who clear GEP round 1 ? :?
whereas P, Q, R are the 3 GEP classes (selected based on strong in English & Maths) ? -

Lynn, it's true they do try to split good friends up to try to get them to mix with each other. And no, the GEP classes aren't grouped according to strengths in English and Math.

Hehe, I agree, all P3 classes are multi talented class.

I'm talking about P3s going to P4s, there will be 2 HA classes starting P4 onwards. -
Not all those that get to E / F Class are extremely smart.
If they cant cope ,they will be back to their normal classes. It happens all the time. -
I thought those who got into the E and F classes in P5 & 6 was based on SA2 rankings.

This is my understanding too. My older dd in the F class and the PSLE results were quite good for her year. Around 255 to 268, highest for that year was 283 if i remember correctly. -
wow! 268 is very high !
the 283 comes from which class - from HA class, GEP class or some other class ?
we are the only all girls GEP school.
from past 7 to 10 years results,
has there been data collected so far that indicate pupils from E & F classes (Higher Ability) produce better PSLE results, Or, still these 3 GEP classes (P, Q, R) pre-dominate & perform better at PSLE ?
if a child is only average - not inside any of the above 5 classes but been assigned to some other class instead, are the Form teachers hardworking ?
are there (P4 - P6) parents here from other classes apart from above 5 - how do you feel about the teachers ? -
hi moonee,
may i clarify ?
as an example - is there possibility that at P4, say, a child is inside (E, F) class. however due to certain reasons - suppose child can’t cope up with the rigorous academic demand(s). Thus come next year P5 - child exit (E, F) class, but assigned back a normal class ?
vice versa - say another child from normal class P4 initially did not enter (E, F) class. But if child works hard during one whole year, more mature now, improve a lot then come P5, enter HA class ?
so doesn’t mean once child enters HA at P4, forever HA all the way to P6 ? it also gives a fair chance to other children who pick up later & subsequently can enter HA at (P5, P6) ? -
Hi phtthp, DD joined RGPS only in P4. Despite v. good P3 results from a reputable girls' school, she was put into an average class. However, due to her good P4 results, she was put into one of the HA classes at P5. Students who cannot cope do get kicked out of HA classes! Kinda demoralizing for them.
Anyway, girls who can cope are more or less guaranteed of good results. I definitely see a lot of difference in the quality of teaching in the better classes. I believe (I may b wrong) that better teachers are assigned to teach the HA classes as most of the girls are expected to get 260 or more for PSLE (the second part revealed by DD's teacher during Meet-the-parents session).
