Exit the current outgoing batch of P6 students who are almost reaching end of the finishing line, in the hectic PSLE race. Soon they'll sing the song 'Al Lang Syne', and hop onto the Secondary 1 race track, start another fresh milestone new journey. :imanisland: :imanisland: ๐Ÿ•บ ...

incoming enter the next new current batch of P5 students - raising their batons & lanterns high, high up to shine brightly leading the way.... CHEONG Ah forward, go, go, go!

        Hi Brenda,

So I just zoom into past year papers for P5 this Nov/Dec holiday ??
His EL enrichment centre uses P6 past year comprehension passages to prepare them.
        Thanks.

You can start doing those questions that have learnt before and at the same time study those new topics from the Science Guide book and slowly attempt to those new questions.

Basically, you don't have much time to do once the school is reopening in P6. Also the teacher will teach in the very fast mood and your DS will be in much more comfortable position since he has learnt/done all these topics before.

        Hi Brenda,
Appreciate your advice and please continue to give us parents how to survive P6 and PSLE. Although PSLE is the ultimate GOAL, have to get through this month's SA2 first.

I figured P6 will be a SUPER short and fast 9 months...more like a crash course.

        Thank you.

              Hi! Concern_mum,
May I ask which level is your DS?

For my P3 DD1, we are now doing the past year exam papers. Just be careful that not all schools have the same topics so it is best to go thru those papers and pick up the related topics for him to work on. For eg, my DD1's SA2 topics are Diversity, Materials, Cycles and Magnets. So I will circle those related questions for her to work on and asked her to skip those not tested questions for next round (have to keep and file all these past year exam papers ๐Ÿ˜‚ )

From there, I can roughly gauge which are the areas that my DD1 is weak and I will go thru that topic with her again by reading up the guide books + topics in the assessment books relating to that topic.

No worries, concern_mum - we are all here to learn from one another :grphug:

Yes, I do find it is challenging to coach my DD1 with Science but am telling myself must give her the full support for this period till the end of the SA2! ๐Ÿ˜“ ๐Ÿ˜“

So, concern_mum let's :rahrah: :rahrah: together!

to coach P3 and P5 boys at the same time for SA2?
                    :faint:
do you still have a copy of their past work? their weaklink is MCQ? or section B? zoom in their mistakes first and correct their answering techniques, firm up the foundations.
IMO, not productive to work at past year papers given the short time frame if the foundation is shaky.

                      hi Jdeamum

i donโ€™t have any more copy for their past work, i was thinking since next week is PSLE marking day, i will let them try the past year paper from CA1 onwards and guide from there. Is it possible?

not sure about the P5 boy, but for P3, focus on the the recent topics then revised backwards to CA1 topics.
choose a few papers and work in detail instead of trying to cramp so many papers into that 4 days.
if your concern is to improve grade and not so much on scoring, (and also depending on whether your kid is in top schools or neighbourhood schools) avoid tough papers from NYPS and RGS and PHPPS.
                        JMHO. good luck.
