Yes, Raysusan, I've seen that from many's fb too. It is only natural for people to have different perspective. I had let the message dwell in my head for a while before deciding that the comments didn't really change my perspective of him.
Steve Jobs was born at the right place, at the right time. Even he himself admitted that. If you look at the timing, the launch of iPhones, iPods, iPads, would not have been so successful had it not been the rise of china and the businesses who are willing to manufacture them at such low cost, which then passed on to the consumer. Remember the days when it costs thousands to own a mac? My respect of him started since the early years of Apple, not since he launched the 'i' products.
As for him being an axxhxxx, well, there are indeed people whom we dislike or hate but cannot deny their contribution - the more perfectionistic they are, the worse it gets - because they drive you nuts. They go for extreme excellence that you find impossible, yet when you look back, you become part of the team that make the impossible possible. I have had the privilege of working with such people, and I have to admit it is always a love-hate situation. You hate him, but you have to respect him at the end of the day for the results - and the results benefit the company as a whole when you get your bonuses. And these people are never NICE, They never feel they should be THE SAME like all of us.
He did not donate any money to charity like Bill Gates did. Just because many millionaires did doesn't mean he HAS TO do it too. Him being a Buddhist, there is a saying that if you do philanthropic work, you do it quietly - so who can be so sure other than his own family members and his closest friends that he hadn't already done it anonymously? This is just my speculation, not my belief.
I tend to believe that he is more of a control freak. He'd probably prefer to build a school and then go about designing it, being hands on in all the details - like he always does - than to give money to charity and not know what they're going to spend them on. This is just my speculation, wouldn't really know until this book comes out.
By the way, I never thought the iPhones are perfect. I use a Samsung

There's another one going around in FB:
10 years ago, we had Bob Hope, Johnny Cash, and Steve Jobs. Now, we have no Hope, no Cash, and no Jobs.

following iphone fashion trend don't work for me -
concern2:
as a supplier to Apple and being part of the supply chain for the Apple products, we never had it easy and the margin is extremely thin; if one item is scrapped at the end of the production line, you need the profit margin from the next 50 pieces to cover the loss of that scrapped piece!

some of the spec demanded is unnecessary as far as manufacturing is concerned. Talk to any of our team involved in manufacturing Apple parts and our competitors and they will tell you how they \"curse\" the product. Apple would never be that successful if there is no China. There have been reports of workers committing suicide in China factory ....... just think a little about it, but don't think too much about it -
Here's another podcast by Mr. Brown. Enjoy...
