Yes it's very unfair and my friend was quite upset because her son stayed up late nights to complete his project while his friend's father (whose father's profession involves making models) did it for him. :stupid:

Fair or unfair is a matter of feeling. Will be better if we all learn to accept and move on with things in life.

if suppose a P4 child can’t cope with rigours of the GEP programme - say around P4 Term 3 / 4, and child quits. Now a vacancy has been created in his GEP class.

will MOE refill this vacancy … by chanelling some top mainstream child who is very interested to come in, to occupy this newly created GEP vacancy ?

and for that child who had quit, so far no penalty, right ?
(remind me of those scholars who break bond)

No, MOE will not refill this vacancy.

Thank you very much, Flowermonaster for kind info.

now i understand why MOE discourage GEP children to quit from the programme. Not easy to go in, also not easy to get out.

think some parents would only want their child to submit a perfect piece of assignment that's why they r more stressed.

my wife wo went for some GE talk in a hotel told me some parents were really agitated!

Agitated because the kids were stressed or because the parents were stressed?

I think some parents stress themselves out. My friend whose kid was in a different GE centre from mine was telling me how some parents always helped out with the kids projects, from research, to writing to building the projects.

It's better to let the kids do themselves but parents can help out by giving advices or help to provide the materials (in the case of solar cooker project, parents can help to cut the cardboard as it might be dangerous for kids to use pen knife). Other than that, things like research, writing, etc, it's better to let kids do on their own. That's how they will learn. For P4 GEP, parents can help to monitor their progress & alert their kids on the deadline for the projects to avoid last minute work.

For us, it was very much the process that matters. Most of the time, we suggest keywords for searching so that they can reach the information in the internet.

Since there is a wealth of info in the web, we help to sift out the useful one and also which the kid can understand. Even that, we get complaints from certain teacher that it contain too much ‘parent involvement’!!!
