Dunno leh. But he just appeared together with his dd in the lab on the day the dd was supposed to do the expts. The Science teachers knew him because he was probably their ex-professor and nobody asked him to leave leh.

Wouldn't the girl feel embarrassed to have her daddy tagging along in school? Thot most teenagers would feel that way? And didn't the other pupils/parents protest/complain about the 'unfairness'?

dun think Science supervisor on duty allow parent to suka suka anyhow enter the school’s RGS Science laboratory. Because if one parent start entering Science lab help child submit perfect project work, then other parents likewise follow suit … UNLESS the Father happen to be an invited special Science guest to the school, happen to demo some Science topic(s) of interest, & his daughter happen to be one of the students there, went forward to help her Dad set up the experiment … misleading students to think otherwise.

Are P2 students allowed to take the GEP tests? Heard 2 top P2 students from Mee Toh cleared the screening test and will be taking the Selection Test. Possible? All along, I thought only P3 students are allowed.

Don't think it's possible. MOE is quite strict about this.

Hmmmm .... i really dont understand how this \"jumping of grade\" works. What i understand is that only those who born in 1 Jan can choose to register the next grade, that is, eg. born in 1 Jan 2005 can choose to register P1 a year ahead (correct me if i'm wrong guys)


My dd has to \"downgrade\" when return from Aus. She attended Gr5 in Aus but was asked to attend P4 when return to Spore. Not because she cannot follow the syllabus but because of her age. The school said, there is no way to skip one grade, she must follow her age group. Poor dd, so confuse and ask me why she has to repeat

As far as i know, both are very different systems. A friend whose son attended Australia Gr2 commented the stuff covered are much simpler in her son's Australia school. Same situation for France.

Besides, in France, a child starts school earlier than his/her peers in Sg. For instance, my k2 child would have started P1 in sept this year. Technically, she would have finished P1 by june next year and starts P2 in Sept. However, if we do return to Sg in June next year, she will still have to do P1. I believe that's the same case for Australia. Not really about 'jumping grades' or 'downgrading' but a difference in the start and end of school year.

Skip level? May not be so easily possible in SG. People I came across have kids skip level oversea when the parents work there during their pre-primary or primary school years. When they came back one day, their kids are all one level up then their peers here. :evil:

Perhaps these are the ones that have been allowed to jump several grades overseas? If not, don't think it's possible to skip grades in Sg just because they studied overseas in their primary years. Especially for those coming back during their PSLE year, they are encouraged to downgrade to P5 instead of sitting for PSLE directly. ( on MOE website)

Sheldon is real genius by nature....but with more and more kids that start enrichment earlier and earlier, some of those that manage to go gep are not 'so natural'... :siam: ...and leaving some real gifted ones outside the top 500 range... :siam:
