If the same set of teacher mark for all the 4 days, then 100+ teachers should be enough per subject, ie if one teacher marks 100 papers per day as per ur assumption.Maybe 2 days to mark and 2 days to double check hor.. Just wonder they need how many teachers to mark one subject paper :roll:
Assuming around 44000 students who took PSLE.
If one teacher marks 100 papers per day also need around 500 teachers per subject. -
The truth is actual marking has not started yet. On the first day, all makers have to undergo a marking exercise. Eg in composition, during the marking exercise, teachers will know whether they are too strict or too lenient and will have to adjust accordingly, before marking starts after lunch.

I like to think that most teachers are compassionate - that’s why they are in this profession. I believe most teachers chosen for marking PSLE are the more senior teachers (not the newly joined ones). They have been and seen this system, so they know this is an important national exam that determines the kids’ future direction and are not out to "kill" the kids. They try to follow guidelines on marking, and be as fair as possible. As one of my teacher fren used to say, sometimes when she sees a "weaker" kid’s compo, she will feel "pitiful" and try to see how else she can "help" by "discovering" his / her good points (strengths) in the compo to give a little more marks (0.5 or 1 mark also help) in content / language.

How does the 2 teachers marking system work ?
Good for the kids if the second teacher find ways to add marks.
But will be bad if the 2nd teachers deduct marks given by the first. -
There is an answer booklet which gives the different possible answers to each question, especially for Science and EL paper 2, as well as how to award marks for incomplete answers. Kind of hard for teachers to award extra because a tick is given against each correct point. The only one possible in being lenient is composition. The whole marking process is actually very fair. In fact for composition, the 2nd marker has absolutely no idea what marks the first marker has given, because he/she will put down the marks on a separate piece of paper (with students’ index no. on it) which is given to a checker. After the 2nd marker has marked, the checker will check for disparity and collate the marks.

Hahaha, Ms Tay, I also wish I m marking. Then I will mark DD's scripts and give her full marks! Maybe you can tell me your DS's index n I give him very high marks too, but one mark below my DD.MummySTay:
