GEP kids and their parents
-
Maybe we should have a poll on parents whose kid(s) is in GEP, if either they or their spouse is a GEPer?

Wah, didn't come here for 2 days and the forum sorta exploded....

Thanks, chamonix....enjoy your extended holiday in France. That's the best time to bond with the kid(s)...
All the best to your DD1 and those taking the GEP tests!Busymom:
haiz,Busymom, I donch mind....haven't you heard? 40 is the new 20 :boogie:
You are disclosing how old you are har.. :evil:Andaiz:
The first batch of GEP parents are 40 this year

verykiasu2010:
GEP for secondary school up to Sec 4. Believe for the first batch there were 4 classes in RI. Ratio boys to gals was about 2:1.
Those were pre-u 1 & 2, before RJC startedChenonceau:
Back then, RI had girls.
GEP testing started in 1983 for the first batch in 1984
RJC started in 1982 hence there was never any GEP girls in RI. The first batch was in RGS secondary or RGPS, and GEP for secondary is up to sec 2 only anyway
I think back then (warao, sounds like mountain tortoise), integration to \"mainstream\" was good. These GEP'rs are still friends after all these years. Now, it's been made into such a hoohaa :siao: (no offence) that there's a prestige tagged to it. In RGPS, there are periods where the GEPers \"integrate\" with the same cohort gals! :whut: -
Andaiz:
er.. but I thought you spent one year at River valley??
haiz,Busymom, I donch mind....haven't you heard? 40 is the new 20 :boogie:Andaiz:
Yeah, my impression is that there were more boys, but just not sure how many more.GEP for secondary school up to Sec 4. Believe for the first batch there were 4 classes in RI. Ratio boys to gals was about 2:1.

This partnering of GEPper + GEPper parents combination reminds me of the madman Hilter's idea......what is the world becoming to???just888:
regret din look for GEP partner ....... :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
Sorry to interrupt, not all good apple + good apple will ensure a very good apple or at least the same quality apple.
I remembered in Pri, my classmate mum is a teacher and father a doc both degree holder, but my classmate and her bro report book mostly bloody scenes one except for english.
I've seen a lot of GEPpers having non-GEP parents. Case of nature vs nurture debate I supposed.

Hmm... could also be that in the 80s-90s, the GEPers whose parents were non-GEP or non-degree holders were as such because they lacked money and opportunities for education. their parents could still be genetically very smart.
But I also believe that not all bright parents produce bright children.
As with genetics, they always say diversity is the key to producing exceptional quality right? Too much inbreeding etc not quite recommended haha! So vk2010's wife, all is not lost, esp since yr kids are doing well right? *wink* -

Yeah esp since that age group has all the moolah to buy fancy toys like flashy sports cars... they always say, can't change wife, so change car. :siam:

Oui, oui, we are enjoying every minute now. As a matter of fact, we just brought the kids to Disney today.
But I'm also secretly worrying about my kids' ability to adapt to the Sg pressure cooker system upon our return...
They are leading a very carefree life now!Andaiz:
