      Hey markfch

      I'm 倪匡's fans too!
Love his 卫斯理 series. Been reading since my teens. Oh, probably that's why I totally buy his theory that there are aliens living among us

I usually borrow from NLB. Conditions of NLB books aren't good though, most books like 'giam chai'. Plenty of 倪匡's fans I guess

Thanks Pen88n. That’s very fast response. Yeah, I definitely prefer the simplied Chinese version.

The other reason why I rather get from bookshops than dangdang is that I need to physically see that the standard is not too difficult for me to cope. So even from the same series, I would need to get the simpler ones to read 😆

Thanks sleepy. If it’s a good series like 卫斯理, I don’t mind buying since I can eventually pass it down to ds to read. But definitely not those R(A) 九把刀 books I’m reading now. Haha.

            Hi markfch,

It is better not to order direct from dangdang, their overseas shipping has become unreliable. I use the following service now to order from dangdang:
            http://buy4u.peeka.sg/

Shipping is fast and the cost is reasonable.

I have read all the books in this series before. If you can read our Chinese newspapers, you should be able to read this. An RGPS girl who used to hate Chinese, read these books and developed a love for the language.
These books are easier to read compared to the fantastic 金庸 novels which are widely regarded as the best chinese novels written in modern times.

              markfch,

The book set (10 books per set) for 卫斯理 is usually out of stock from Dangdang, and the individual books are higher price. Btw, compared with buying from Singapore bookstore, online ordering is much cheaper, easily 30-40% off at least! I’m trying to get from Taobao via Peeka (thanks to Tamarind for introducing Peeka) - not sure how successful yet…will inform you if it works out fine and I get my books!

                Pen88n,

                You are welcome.

Note that there are many booksellers in taobao, some may be selling pirated copies. I usually check the customer ratings and comments to make sure that the books are 正版 before ordering. taobao sellers can be even cheaper than dangdang.

                      Hi larkspur,

First create an account in peeka. Then paste the link from dangdang and enter the title, price, qty, etc. You need to transfer payment through internet banking. peeka will order the books from dangdang for you. They will inform you of the shipping charge when they receive the books in china. Then you need to pay shipping and they will deliver to your home. There is a service charge of $5, economy shipping uses volume, not actual weight and the cost is very reasonable. Everything in peeka is in English.

                        Tamarind,
Ooops.....now I've to go in and check my taobao sellers' ratings!!! Didn't realise there is possibility of that!!! The problem is I can't seem to get the box set of some books from Dangdang as they are always out of stock and I am one of those who love to collect sets  .

I've followed your advice, checked and removed an order from a shop that has lower ratings. The rest are all \"4 diamonds sellers\" and reputable bookstores 😉 Thanks again, for the tip.

Since we are on this topic, can I also enquire it we order for Dangdang for delivery to Peeka, where should be the area (Dangdang sometimes state out of stock for certain area)? Also, does that mean out of stock for that area we can't order? Same with Taobao, does the merchant area matters for Peeka? Any charges for delivery for Dangdang within China - I know Taobao merchant will list delivery charges? If you happen to know these answers, would appreciate if you can guide me along. Thanks again.
