Can always take a flight from CHC to Queenstown, though it sounds silly, but driving in NZ is really easy because most of the time there is only one road between towns, so you won't get lost, directional signs are clearly posted at every turn, and it is a right-hand drive like SG, plus there is a thing called GPSHi there, yes i felt that Switz would be better in June holidays. I am reading the forum and thinking about London, but I am quite worried about the weather. i read on tripadvisor that Eve of Xmas n Xmas no public transport, so what we going to do the whole day
We have never been to a winter place, so i am not sure if I will be able to take it with the kids.
NZ seems better, but I am worried about how to get from CHC to Queenstown, SI hahah,, no confidence to drive alone, in case we end up lost.
most of the towns are small and not as crowded as Toa Payoh or Tampines, so no worry. The route from CHC to Queenstown is scenic too -

If you are not confident about driving and safety issues then u will probably be better off with a guided tour. If you don't like the rush of singapore tours, you can always fly to whichever destination be it NZ or London, and take their local land tour. Seems the perfect solution that will address all your concerns. You don't even need to do research. Someone will do it for u.Hi there, yes i felt that Switz would be better in June holidays. chix chix, are you taking the kids abroad by yourself?
if yes, maybe joining a tour group is better especially if you have never been to the country. -

There's really nothing much to do in London in Christmas bec all the restaurants and shops are closed. You'll prob have to cook some food for yourself in your apartment, rent some videos and play boardgames.Hi there, yes i felt that Switz would be better in June holidays. Hii there, no DH will be coming but he can take cold weather …sigh…i guess then its not the right time to go London… headache, i think I have to look at NZ or other places… SQ flights to CHC seem to be fully booked after 20 dec…and although DH has a driving license ,he hasnt driven before in SG. So I cant trust his driving in NZ hahahaa,
dont hotels provide transfers, if i need someone to drive me from CHC to queenstown ?
I was also just wondering ,like usually when we go KL for a week, we book the same hotel, what abt NZ,is it advisable to book a hotel in Queenstown and travel around from there or do we have to book different places.
Thanks all for all your help… -

South Island NZ is a big place. Not like KL. You won't find taxis taking you fm Christchurch to QT. It is not Asia. Based on what you said so far and the questions you ask, i recken you are better off taking a guided tour and that provided you can still get air tickets. Alternatively, if money is no object, you can rent a car and hire a chauffeur. I think so too. If you were to base yourself in one town, you do need to drive yourself around to get from one place of interest to the next. And as your dh is not comfortable driving, and taxis are not easily available, you'd be better off joining a tour group. If you can't join one out of Singapore, you might want to consider taking day tours while in NZ.

Consider travelling UK by rail? Yes, it is not as convenient as self-driving but it takes you off the risk of driving as afterall you are there for holidays.

you can book local tour from CHC that can take you to QT and even west coast, milford sound with cruise etc, google for guided tour - south island NZ you should be fine
tourism is a very developed industry in NZ -
if $$$ is not a problem, i am sure the local tour agency should be able to put together an itinerary for you and your family only which comes with all the hotels and transports arrangement.
