As one mummy ever complained in DHS thread that her child had gotten
69.5 marks,
but got 2.8 instead of 3.6
that 's y, the pupils often ask their teachers whether their marks are high A or low A ,
when they are given their CA1 n CA2 grades, as it will affect their final grades...... -

Then again, total percentage for all subjects may also not be reflection of a student's ability.
Just like in PSLE, all 4 subject are of equal weightage. So a student must be good in ALL the 4 subjetcs. If you are weak in any one of the subjects, you virtually kiss goodbye to your dream school.
But in O level is different ... you only need to be good in 1 language plus another 5 subjects ... So you'll find some students not doing well in PSLE but they ace in O Level ... because they may not take the subjects they were weak in in PSLE ... -

Last yr when gal in yr 1, some days recess was very early,
while some days very late, they were almost famished.....

For the recess timing, prob becos they dun wanna to have break in between
subjects......
Talking abt changes in diff semesters, think there was 1 semester
whereby they had to reprint their timetable every few days before they settled down for the last one..... -

hmmm..sounds pretty disruptive..but if it is not too often I guess it is still OK , thanks for sharing this here, at least this helps parents of potential njc students manage the expectations.
It gives the impression that the school & its teachers cannot manage & plan their stuff .... :sad:
I do notice that different teachers have different expectations on group project work submissions, that's all. Eg, a teacher expected a more professional poster to be handed up instead of their usual - draw on poster heavy paper and mounted on those plastic boards. The teacher expected the poster digitally printed! Well, my boy learnt something from that though. And he found the whole process quite fascinating, especially after he saw their digital workfile printed out at the digital printers. They self-mounted it with boards from ArtFriend bc they didn't have time for professional mounting as it was due the next day by then.
And then another time, they tried to be more professional with their report (just recently), but the teacher said they forgot to follow the specified report outline. *oops*. Another rush to redo.
I don't quite find that haphazard? I guess they have to learn that \"different bosses\" expect different levels of work? And they have to adjust accordingly! Eventually when they do PW for A-levels, they will meet even stranger mentors. -

Hi Phankao, cannot agree more! This is part of learning, right? Instead of just spoon-feeding them at this age.
DS was begging for marks from his \"boss\" yesterday when they got back their EOY exams papers. -

But I wasn't referring much to PW when I mention about haphazard. I am referring to more of the classes for regular subjects being added & cancelled at the last minute.
Today, they have Public Speaking Workshop. When I ask my girl what time the workshop ends, she said dunno. I asked her \"Why don't you ask your Form Teacher ?\" and she said \"I did, but her Form Teacher said she didn't even know got Public Speaking Workshop today.\"
