      Hi Leanne

      I did not purchase onsponge maths. I bought the UTM and challenging maths problems made easy.As both books using UTM, there are not much of a difference to me.You may want to purchase the challenging maths problems made easy as it is available at popular, whereas the UTM, you can either go to the centre to purchase or buy online. My son is using these 2 books for extra practices as his tuition centre is using UTM to teach too.I did not send him to Maths Heuristics@Goldhill as it is inconvenient and the fee is rather expensive for me, futhermore have to follow the centre's modules (check the website http://www.mathsheuristics.com for details)

        I called the centre last week to enquire about the model approach book,
        the receptionist said end of june.will keep you posted if i receive their email
        regarding this book.The UTM costs $37.50, wonder what is the price for this new book.

        Rgds
        Yes, I saw the date stated on their website is Jun too. I remembered asking them about the price and answer was the same as UTM. Anyway, thanks for the update.

            I bought UTM too and found it easy to understand. There is another book Model Approach which suppose to be avaiable in Jun. Has anyone bought it? Care to share?

              There are examples (with solutions) and questions for practice. I personally find the solutions for the examples very useful and easy to understand. This is the main reason I bought this book. I can't comment on challenging prob make easy as I don't have one. But the standard of the examples and questions in UTM are very close to PSLE paper. I know is expensive so please take a look at the content first before making the decision.

                [quote="Leanne"]Hi tweet

                Thank you.

                Can just check what is the difference between this onsponge and
                challenging math make easy by the same author ammiel wan/thanks

                [quote="tweet"][

                I would think is good to have both books. We use either book to find a solution which is being structured in a way that similar to the question that we cannot solve.

                E.g. Nan Hua 2009 P5 SA1 Q18 and SA2 Q18, we managed to find a similar example from “changeling math make easy” and solve the question.

                Catholic High 2009 P5 SA1 Q14, we follow the model from the “Sponge” and managed to work out the answer.

                Just my 2 cents thought.

                  Thank you for the recommendation.

                  I am thinking of getting one for reference or practice.

                    went mathheuristic at goldhill, seems that the materials are good, as they train the child to think through the problem before doing it.

                    quite tempted to send my girl but its 485 per 10 lessons.
                    there are 4 modules. ie 1 module 1 term. first 2 terms for p4 are on diff types of models. term 3 on heuristics, term 4 on higher order thinkg.
                    has anyone tried this centre??
                    how does it compare to concept math and onsponge?

                    i know mathheuristic doesnt follow sch topic in exact sequence, but on the other hand i m thinkg, why go tuition if i can teach section a and b type of questions myslf? my prob is how to solve challenging problems…

                        Hi,

                        My son was with Maths Heuristic last year, and obtained A* for his PSLE. I also got Mr. Sunny Tan’s UTM book for sale, almost brand new (as seldom used after enrolled my son in his tuition center). Interested, pls. pm me.
