      AJAJ:
Hi Parents, my daughter was selected at SST and we need to make a decision next week to send her there or not. She is expecting about 245-250 in her PSLE. what other options do i have for any IP schools (non-chinese)

SST looks attractive but it's not proven yet and from it's website i don't see any achievement from it's students in competitive exams (unlike NUS high, RI, NJC and other shools)

      Pls advise
With an aggregate of 245-250, you have a choice of quite some Band 1 Sec schs within reach. You can check out these from the S1 posting booklet the sch should have issued to your gal. Off the top of my head, you can consider the following: Cedar Girls', Crescent Girls', St Nic Girls'. If you prefer mixed schools, you can consider the following (depending on where you stay): Anderson Sec, Bukit Panjang Govt High, Angelican High. I'm sure you can find more from the booklet.

Of those listed above, only Cedar Girls is going IP next year together with Victoria.

Would the students who went for the trial lessons today or their parents like to share their views/ experiences?

šŸ•ŗ I went for the English and Physics lesson today . It was rather fun and indeed applied learning . I learnt the angle of deviation and refraction during the Physics lesson through experiments . During the English lessons , we were asked to arrange the sequence of the procedures and also asked to create a ringtone by following a set of procedures guided by the teacher and written by us and we were allowed to keep the procedure of creating a ringtone . I feel it would be easy to adapt to the environment there if you are a hands-on person . I heard some insider's news from the teacher too . He told us that the new campus would have 10 laboratories and they are going to build a JC just for us . At the end of the 4 years , half of the cohort would go to polytechnics while the other half would stay . After going for the lessons , I would definitely choose SST .

That , I'm not sure but I guess they don't call it as a six-year programme as not all of the cohort will stay , only half . That may be the possible reason .

No. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a decent PSLE score then we will appeal. This kind of thing is just the kind of stuff that excites him and he is very interested in anything technology related. I think the ringtone creation to teach English is such a fabulous idea - it would excite techies like my son who get excited by the activity and also force them to communicate effectively.

Good to know you are excited to go there after the lesson.

No doubt it, really suitable for my DS learning style and impressed with the principal and vice-principal speech. :rahrah:
