Among the Bedok _____ Secondary Schools, Bedok View Secondary is a good one.

Use your child’s result to go into the best secondary school.

St. Anthony’s Canossian Sec @ Fengshan & Temasek Sec @ Bedok South are good schools in Bedok area. Their T-score are 220+ to 230+.

Based on the COP, the Bedok schools are ranked as following. I also included few other schools around the area for your consideration.

Pasir Ris (220 - 236) - this school is at tampines
            Bedok View (218 - 234)
            Bedok South (211 - 230)
Damai (205 - 231) - this school is at bedok reservior
            Bedok Green (204 - 229)
            Bedok North (188 - 234)
            Bedok Town (188 - 229)

I have 2 nephews, one graduated from Bedok Green last year and one in Bedok North Sec 4 this year , hence I can only comment on these 2 schools. Being a neighbourhood school, you can expect more mischevious students in the school. However, my 2 nephews have no problem with their schoolmates. They are aware who are the \"problematic\" students in their schools and they just avoid these students.

I have attended the Meet Parents Session (MPS) for the 2 of them since Sec 1. I can see that the Principals and teachers have work hard to stretch the students, and engaging the parents to work together for the students. Sad to say is not all parents are supportive. Most parents do not attend the MPS, and hence the teachers are also hands tied when they want to do more for the students. I think this is a common problem for neighbourhood schools.

Although the schools O and N level results may not be impressive overall, but they do have successful stories. Bedok Green produced a top NA level student in 2009 (there are 3 top students in the nation that year). You can also find students who get 6 or 7 points for L1R5, which allows them to qualify to the top 5 JCs in S'pore.

Each school has its own strength in the CCAs. Bedok North is good for its Drama. Pasir Ris is famous for its Chinese Orchestra. Hence you can discuss with your DD to see what CCA she wants, and perhaps you can choose the school that focus on that particular CCA she likes.

One factor you may want to consider is the subjects the school offer in Sec 3. Some neighbourhood schools are less flexible when come to the Sec 3 subjects combination. In other words, it is possible that students may study subjects which they don't like. Example,
            1) Some schools do not offer Triple Science to their top class. The best classes only do Pure Chem and Pure Bio or Pure Phy.
            2) Some schools only offer Pure Geography and no Pure Lit or Pure History.
            3) Some schools only has Social Studies/Geog and no Social Studies/Hist or Social Studies/Lit. Even though the school may offer the different cobination, students may not be able to choose the one they like.
            4) For average students, they will only do 6 or 7 subjects for O level. Hence they do not have spare subjects for the L1R5 computation. The reasons given by the schools: they wantthe students to focus on what they study.

Hope you find the info useful.

My dd couldn’t get into her dream school… Look for schools in the East.

if the cut off point is 2-4 marks higher, is it advisable to put it as 1st choice? Please advice on the below schools!
Or any other schools in the East within this range. Thanks much!

                Psir Ris (220-236) Band 6
                Bedok View (218 - 234) Band 8
                Bedok South (211 - 230) Band 8
                Damai (205 - 231)
                Bedok Green (204 - 229)
                Manjusri (200-233)

If the schools do not have band means it is worse than Band 9?

Please also advice any good schools in the East for:

                Express: 188-200 & NA: Under 180

Schools without banding maybe due to
                  1) Schools that offer the Integrated Programme
                  2) Schools with small candidature, i.e. fewer than 40 students
                  3) Worst than Band 9

Although Bedok Green, Bedok North, Damai have no banding, they do produce few students with good \"O\" level results. Have you consider schools at tampines?

You may want to consider choosing schools where your child's score is similiar to the rest of the intakes (looking at the mode or median score).

if the cut off point is 2-4 marks higher, is it advisable to put it as 1st choice? my reply will be YES, personally i will try. however, i will ensure my 2nd choice is the one the most preferred one if i didn't manage to go into my 1st choice.

Thanks much, koguma! Yes, looking @ Tampines & even Pasir Ris.

The rest, please help to advise! Thank you very much!

                      dear all,

I stay in bedok. my dd got a sore of 214
Looks like she might not get in any of the known schools.
Since i didnot want her travel far, so settled for schools around this area.
Went to open house at bedok green, impressed . My dd says she wants to join here only
Missed manjuri sec school open house as dh and me fighting over
So I am alone in selecting the school for my dd, don't want to make a bad choice and make my dd suffer through her sec. 😢

So just want to check, which is better, bedok green or manjusri. Saw that in bedok green sec school, more combinations are found than manju sri.
                      Any feedback?
Also looking for East Spring Sec sch in tampines (Again missed open house 😞 )

Can some one help on this?
The schools I plan to opt are like this
                      1. BedokView
                      2. BedokSouth
                      3. East Spring
                      4. BedokGreen
                      5. Manjusri

Can somebody help? Thanks a lot in advance

This is one of my post for manjusri sec school and the reply i got

today evening happen to go around Manjusri school to check the distance between busstop and school.I stay at reservoir side. Observed the following:
The ubi ave around the school has worker hostels and u can see many workers sitting there with bottles :scared:
The CCA's sometimes extend til 6:30 pm so my dd has to come all the way between the blocks if she has to catch direct bus or wait for bus 63 to change to another bus. The roads are also very empty.. i could be wrong too, since i went on a weekend evening.
Also heard from few posts here and there that the students esp girls hangout around smoking :scared: scary!!! These post are around an year back..Not sure how the atmosphere now is.. anyone got any idea?
Also another very quick and silly questions, I am of Indian origin, Mahabodhi doesnot cater any other lang other than Chinese (I wanted to send my dd to mahabodhi and when I spoke to the pricipal she said that chinese is a must and that the has to pass). My dd was not interested in chinese, so had to choose another school with mothertongue hindi.
My quick question is do we see any indian students there? Is chinese compulsory in manjusri too?

                        Thanks in advance

Hi can only comment on the school release timing. I think the condition on weekday is very different from weekends. I think MBS afternoon session release around 6.20pm if I don't remember wrongly. So at 6.30 there will be still a lot of parents/ students in that area. Also don't think those workers have the luxury of hanging out in that area on a weekday at 6plus.

Mbs is a SAP school hence they only offer chinese. There are Indian students but probably less than 10. These students will have to take Chinese.

Hope existing mansjusri parents can help the comments on chinese.

Anybody can help? Thanks a lot in advance
