      Hi parents,

Are sharks considered an egg laying fish or one that gives birth to their young alive? I know this is a P3 topic but I saw it in one of the P4 school papers and was a bit confused. I thought most sharks lay eggs but the answer was that it gave birth to its young alive.

        Hi

        Please go to this link.

        http://library.thinkquest.org/CR0215242/sharks.htm

The paragraph on “Family Life” should help to answer your query.

Also, take note of the paragraph on “Why don’t they sink?”, this will come in handy when students are doing the topic on “Adaptations”.

        Best wishes

DS answered (2) but answer sheet showed (4). Anyone able to advise why (4) is the rightful answer as DS still does not understand why and I can't really explain it. :scratchhead:

          Thanks.

            Hi All

This is the first time that my son will be having science practical exam, which constitute 10% of total marks. Appreciate sharing by parents whose child had gone through one on what is expected of the child. It will be great if you can share the topic that your child is tested on and the task that the child has to perform.

            Thanks.

              hypergatak,

Every school may conduct their sc practical in varying ways, especially the details so it would be good to write an email to ask the science teacher what is expected from the school especially the topics.

What I can share is that our school did a mock test so that we could see what was expected in the paper. Perhaps you would like to confirm if a mock test was already conducted and you could review the paper.

Thanks, but according to my son, no mock test and no briefing. Anyway, have your son gone through one? What is he being tested on? Just want to get a feel.

                Thanks.

I think (4) is wrong because the stomach does not absorb food into the bloodstream, so answer must be (2).

                    Hi,

I need help with the following question. The answer provided is (3). Could someone kindly advise me why is it (3)? Why isn't the answer (4) as copper would be a better conductor of heat and henceforth will burn the paper as oppose to wood which is a poor conduct of heat?

                    http://i56.tinypic.com/289l8vk.jpg\">

                    Many thanks in advance.

                      Hi

                      Option (3) is correct.

Copper is a better conductor than wood.

The paper around the wooden part is found to be charred but the paper around the copper rod does not burn. This is because heat is conducted away from the paper by the copper rod and the paper never gets hot enough to burn.

                      Best wishes
