      Again on Saturday night.

Brought dd to see the doctor. Whilst waiting to go in, one Ah Gong saw her and said :" Oh she reminds me of my daughter when she was young. Is she the only one?"

      I nodded.

" Oh my! How can you stop at one? Cannot! They will be very lonely."

OMG! Am I the only one that gets this all the time??

Kaitly, you are not the only one. i get it from relatives and well-meaning friends too. I can understand how you feel, but don't take it too hard. I believe some of these people meant well (that the only child is indeed lonely), but they are not sensitive enough that it is not our choice to have only one child.

I train myself to be immuned to such remarks so that I won't get upset by people who don't matter to me. That's the only way to keep our sanity.

Its also difficult to consider having another child now because the one child that we have needs a lot of attention for the schoolwork.

No, you are not the only one to get that kind of comment. I used to get that too when my DS was young. From my mum, friends to strangers. Even now I still get such comment occasionally. I am not bother by them As I know what I can and what I cannot. I don't let others affect my feeling and life. I think the most important is my DH has the same thinking as me & that gives me the support I needed. 😄

Yesterday evening, i was playing with my neighbour's youngest grand-daughter. My neighbor DIL's mum (she is from China, here visiting) asked me when I don't have another one more since I like girl so much. Her daughter give birth to 2 cute gals n trying for a boy.

I just smile & told her I am too old to have one. She looked at me and goes :yikes: ( I take that as a compliment, 😉 ). Before she leaves, she said anyway, you still can try since you only got one. :scared:
