      Hi Kid,

How was the DSA selection? My DS really keen to try next year but I’ve been telling him not to put his hopes so high unless he bucks up.

I attended the event 'A Day At SST' last week. It was rather fun and I like the use of technology in every class. The classes were interesting, even geography which i don't like!

How did they conduct the geography lesson ?

This year , we had to do the HAST test during the 1st round and if we were selected for the 2nd round , we had to conduct experiments do some problem solving questions . It's actually not difficult but quite fun . I'm not sure if next year would be the same .

Oh, they asked us to watch videos regarding the Japan Earthquake, and then they split us up into two groups. One group will be the 'locals' who experienced the earthquake while the other group was the 'government' of Japan. They gave us an Ipad to work with to research into the disaster. At the end, they made each group select one person and talk about:

            For The Locals:
            What things do you want?
What do you want your government to do
            etc

            For the Government:
How much money can you give to the disaster help.
How can you appease the locals (Compensation, etc)
            etc.

                What’s the HAST test like?

Similar to the annual ICAS exams done in school?

HAST is an ability test used by secondary schools to identify academically students for participation is accelerated learning and enhancement programs. The HAST program delivers rigorous tests in reading comprehension, mathematical reasoning, abstract reasoning and some that apply logical and strategic thinking to solving a problem.
