Are my 3-year old son suitable to take phonics class? We have trained him to read by memorising the words.. I think this is the way we are being trained in our school days...so is Phonics classes useful?

definitely, i think now is the chance to explore a new way of learning. there are enrichment centres in Singapore that provide good phonic class.

Yes, 3 years old is suitable to go for phonics classes. My DD went to phonics class when she is 3years old. There are number of enrichment centres like British council, I Can Read, LCentral etc..

Can anyone share besides Peter and Jane series, what other books are good for beginner reader. I bought P&J but my girl seems not interested? Tks

I used Rigby literacy with DS. He's k2 and can read chapter books. You may want to consider.

                  Hi BrownBelt

Learning Point is in Thomson Plaza and it is for K1 '12 children. Heard from friends that their children started with their phonics programme and is able to read very well at the end of program. Once the children completes the phonics program, they proceed with the writing program that prepares them for Pri 1.

I’m sure enrollment opened…but if you want to go Thomson branch…gotta wait list until got vacancy then they will call you to go do placement test…I think sat 8.30am at Thomson and simei still available…a lot of their other weekend classes are full.
