This reminds me of an incident of a Chinese guy who was asked by his mom to return home from Japan cos she couldn’t afford to pay his fees anymore and upon his arrival at the airport in China, stabbed her to death.

        ksi:
Is the state not paying for his education since he is a child prodigy? :?

even if they are paying for his school fees, I don't think they will sponsor
        an apartment for him

understand it must be an extremely exasperating decision for him but still... killing his own mother ??

The price of competition and upward mobility make people less humane
and very self centred to the hilt 😓 :gloomy:

Seems like the parent must provide everything for their child to excel
in this day and age ?? towards to the extreme at least it seem in China?

SG has a slightly different version of extreme ? :skeptical:

probably the rich parents here dangle a car as a carrot for their kids to do well at A level (happened to one classmate of mine during JC) and a condo at U level

On the other hand can anyone see many of our children be able to
fair any better without help from us in these competitive and
high inflation day and age ........
seem like many KSP parents may not expect their children to
look after them but instead it the other way round to get them started

                      its a catch 22 .... 🦆

Having said that dangling any of the carrots for results
it's does not help in character building no matter how much
we love them , what kind of generations and generations we want
to create in the future is really in many parents hand :hi5:
