1)\tSerene made a patter using 4 shapes. The pattern is shown below. Which of the following is the 66th shape of the pattern?

What is the easier method to tell the answer?

2)\tWhat is the first common multiple of 3 and 9? Is it 9 or 18?

3)\tWeiming has a square piece of paper with sides 6com. He cuts off a 1-cm square from each of the four corners. What is the perimeter of the remaining piece of paper? Is the answer 16cm?

4)\tThe cost of fencing a garden is $10 per metre. Mr Loh paid $480 to fence his square garden. What is the area of his garden?

Is the method correct?  1/3=4/12 (cycling), 1/4=3/12 (swimming), 1/6=2/12 roller-blading
4+3+2=9,
12-9=3 (3/12 likes badminton),
3/12 (badminton)-2/12 (roller-blading) =1/12 (6 pupils more)
6x12=72 (total pupils)

8)\tThere were 182 guests at Henry Park Hotel. The guests wanted to take a taxi to Sentosa Universal Studio. Transport was provided at a fixed price of $27 for 4 guests or fewer. What was the lowest possible transport cost for these 182 guests?

9)\tSome scouts were sitting in a circle around a campfire. They were evenly spaced out and numbered in order. The 3rd scout was sitting directly opposite the 11th scout. If 4 scouts were to leave the campfire, how many scouts were left?
Is the answer 12?

3. it is better to draw the figure to see that perimeter of the uncut paper = perimeter of the cut paper = 6 x 4 cm = 24 cm

4. first, find the length of each side--> $480/$10 /4 = 12m
area = 12 m x 12 m

5. identify the toy with the highest price/lowest price and take reference from there. in this case, cheapest is Toy C...

Toy C = 3 units, Toy A = 4 units, Toy B = 16 units
So, 16 units - 4 units = 12 units = $36 .. I think you can complete the solution..

182/ 4 = 45 R2 --> 45 groups of 4 guests + 1 group of 2 guests = 46 groups
Transport charge = 46 x$ 27 = $1242

9) 12 ... Initial number of scouts = (11-3) x 2 = 16

10) Is the area supposed to be 400 cm2 instead ?

11) Chocolate bars for 1 group of 5 boys + 1 girl = 5x5+ 1 x4= 29
Number of groups = 232/29 = 8
Number of boys = 8 x 5 = 40

12) If there were equal number of coins in the tins, then we can easily work out the number of coins in each tin by dividing the total \"extra\" amount in the 50 cents tin by $0.30 (\"extra\" amount per coin)

So, make the number equal by adding 9 more 50 cents coins to Tin B , this means that we have to add $0.50 x 9 = $4.50 to the \"extra\". Total \"extra\" = $2.70 + $ 4.50 = $7.20

$7.20 / $ 0.30 = 24 .. there are 24 coins in each Tin (after adding 9 coins to Tin B)

So, number of 50 cents coins = 24 - 9 = 15.

*note that we could also make the number of coins equal by removing 9 coins from Tin A --> Extra = $2.70 + $ 1.80 (*9 x $0.20)= $4.50, number of 50 cents coins = $4.50 / $ 0.30 = 15**
