      Dino mummy:
      Hi

Anyone answer for this qn? It is in my boy's P3 practice paper.
Qns: Lisa said, \"the bread mould is a plant.\"Do you agree with her? Give a reason for your answer.
my boy's ans: No. cos the bread mould can't bear fruits like a plant.
His dad said: No, how do you know the bread mould cant bear fruit, the qns din say so.
And they argue over this and both unhappy...now went to take a nap:<
No, the bread mould is not a plant, it is a fungi. Will have to get reason from my son later.

        Hi Dino mummy
The answer is contributed from my son:
        - I disagree.
        - The bread mould is not a plant and it bears spores.
        - It belongs to the group, fungi.
        - It does not has leaves, stem and roots.
        - It does not contain chlorophyll, so they cannot make their own food like plants.

Thanks Pink for the detailed answer. I am definitely going to ask my son for the characteristics of fungi. Doing quite a bit of human/plant reproduction as well as water cycles of late. Quite worried about his knowledge of lower block science.

My son said only 1 mark allocated to the question so why need to write so much... :faint:

\"Disagree. Breadmould is a fungi and not a plant as it does not make its own food while a plant makes its own food.\"

the key diff betwn fungi and plant is how they obtain food.
having spores is not their differentiation as birds nest fern is a plant with spores.
ability to bear fruits is not a differentiation too as some plants do not bear fruits.

                HI Dino Mummy,

1 mark to a child seems like very little...but that 1 mark for Science is hard to get, esp in OE section. If the child doesn't write the keyword, he/she won't even get a 1/2 mark :faint:
For labelling of diagrams, it could be 1/2 mark for 1 correct answer...that is really tough. So I'm going through words like umbilical cord, fertilisation, photosynthesis, chlorophyll these few days. Can't afford to take it for granted that he knows.

PSLE is a combination of both lower and upper block...2-in-1.
No need to get another book.

                      Hi Janet :hugs:
Guess you must be busy preparing for your DS SA2 now? Me too! πŸ˜“

Yesterday DD1 followed DH for grocery shopping without Mummy (said she needed a break 🀷 ). But when back home, she said,\" Mummy, I saw this NEW Science assessment book by Just Education at Popular. Very Good cos' it is ALL MCQ so I no need to write too many words one lei! πŸ˜‰

I was like  - how come end up at Popular when they supposed to go to the Supermarket? DH sensing my thought, replied,\" Your DD1 wanted to get some stationery but don't know why she ended up at the Science Assessment Book section. And she told me this is the new edition (Y 2012) so I \"secretly\" took a picture for you to \"consider\" lor!\" πŸ˜†

Oh My, guess I will have to make a trip after the SA2 exam to have a look at this new found book discovered by my Dear Hubby + Dear Daughter :imcool:

There are a few good assessments books around.

Firstly, for the ultimate science guide book, purely info and facts,
                        1) Buy an orange book : My pals are here, PSLE Science.
                        2) Then buy the Science Explorer by ACE PUBLISHER.
                        Many schools adopt that book.
                        3) Science process skills and Conquer Science by SAP publishing.
Don’t buy the one that you posted.

I used these with my DD and my tuition kids.
