I have had teachable and unteachable maids from indon and philippines. So far this burmese one I currently cooks best (teachable in that sense) but is so irritatingly forgetful in other areas. Likes to do things her way. To me that is difficult to train.

Overall, I am most stressed up by the burmese one, partly because I think she is too young.

Yes Mine is the same, couldnt cook when she came but loves my mums cooking, never eaten good food b4 so shows great interest in learning how to cook, claims she does not eat pork or beef but finishes every dish my mum cooks, loves to try everything, hates durians but never refuse any when offered...aaah!!. finally shes exposed to the real world, wants to try everyting. Forgetful? yes extremely. Judging her all these 4 mths, I notice that shes too young in carrying out a lot of simple household chores n yes the mynmars never fail to do things their way, downright stubborn too.
My ist mynmar was 29 but knew how to handle household chores even tho she spoke little english.,,,, frm my experience with 2 young maids and others who have mynmars that are of legal working age, the older ones seem to perform better but still stubborn.
The young indons are more flexible to change than the mynmars. I have to constantly remind my maid that shes now in spore n not mynmar. My conclusion....You can take the girl out of the country but not the country out of the girl.
        😄 😄

            Hi,

            I have a question here… please kindly advise…
Let’s say you go to the agent and tell him you want a burmese maid, after employing for say, a month, can you say you want to change to indo/pinoy maid? or must you "stick" to burmese maid until end of contract?

I have not employ any maid yet, but trying to find out more…
            Thanks in advance!

No need to keep 2 Yrs. U cn change to any nationality if u find t Burmese unsuitable … The only thing is sometimes agent may ask f a bit more money if y choose frm phillippines n she’s fresh.

No one is obliged to keep a maid 2 Yrs if she’s unsuitable

I am sending my current maid back. Cannot endure her stupidity and forgetfulness anymore.

I have never sent back any maid until recently. Even though the myammar maid I had was not very hard working, and did not keep my house clean, I continue to endure it. But something happen and we decided to send her back. And now I look back, it is probably a right decision. My house has been much cleaner now. The floor is nice to step on.

The straw that broke the camel was the glass shrapnel from my perfume bottle that she broke. I stepped on it and cut myself. I can endure forgetfulness and lying but it is another thing when she used a floor towel to wipe the glass pieces off my bathroom floor, carried the towel off to the other toilet to shake the glass pieces off and then hung the towel on the balcony.

She has also repeatedly put paper/cardboard near the stove. My kitchen is windy and I have repeatedly told her not to do that in case the paper catches fire from the stove.

These are not all the dangerous and stupid things - and she has the cheek to give justifications.

                      hi 1amber,

gosh, this is bad. Yes, I notice that their commonsense is different from ours. So far, I’m lucky in that mine’s still amenable to reason (she won’t justify if i ask her to do things differently). But yes, there are times when my mum complains that she’s really quite block head in the way things are done - have to console her that she has many things to learn.

In your case, good riddance. Hope you get one with more sense and good attitude!!
