Hi, just have a talk with my 15 yr old daughter, her English grade is not so good. Trying to encourage her but not sure how to help her.

Any advice? Next yr she will be taking her O lvl.

It depends on the reason for her poor grade. Some students who don’t score well in English have a good foundation in the language, but they don’t get the good grades that they deserve because they haven’t grasped the skills required to answer the exam questions.

If your DD’s English foundation is good, but there are certain types of questions in the exam that are pulling her marks down, you should zero in on the skills, such as inferring, summarising, and so on.

          Change friends.
          Seriously.
One is a reflection of the 5 closest people you spend your time with.

For now, it would be to be aware, take notice, and be exposed to good English at all times.
Reading is a good way, and reading with notice on the sentence structures will help. Then needs someone to practice with... That's where friends come in.

Also... Play a strategy... Find out where the weak links are... Composition comprehension or something else?
Usually, composition can be easier to improve by reading and noting how stories are written.
Comprehension is about understanding and how to reply properly.

          All the best!
