      hi phtthp,

i’m looking at ACSJ, SJIJ, St. Margaret, Temasek Primary School, Red Swastika, Tanjong Katong Primary School.

Reason being i have 2 boys, 1 girl. Currently grassroots in bedok but heard that temasek 2b 1km required balloting.

thus i’m trying to find a school that does not have balloting for 2c <1km.

      thanks!!

I have 2 boys 1 girl. Currently staying in east. I would like to choose a school that requires no balloting for 2c within 1km.

So I’m trying to find stats before I make my move.

I’m from grassroots for bedok but still need to ballot under 2b 1km.

So I thought go to acjs or sjij since up till 2010 2c 1km no ballot.
Then I heard 2011 both schools balloted during 2c 1km.

        So back to drawing board…

            Oic.

Entering acs or sji in phase 2C under 1km is a tough decision. Most of the time is a betting game. Like what jangoh had mentioned and it is true that balloting took place under phase 2c for 1km.

Even for phase 2B, it was so near to balloting in 2011, just a shy of 2 seats only.

              Thanks for advice.

Blueblue, u r right. Maris Stella had any 2c 1km balloting in 2011? Was it very close gap between app & vac?

Laughingcat, e problem with sjij and acjs is that I have no clue wat shld backup school b if I don’t get in at 2c. Any suggestion?

              Thanks!!

                Hi Peers,

I actually been a PV starting this year, but currently I am staying 1-2km away from the school, based on the \"abnormal\" spikes of registration this yr, even PV for 1-2km also needs balloting.
Right now, I'm considering to move to a new EC, which as per onemap, it's 900+m away from the school. So with PV + <1km away, I think I got high chance of getting in.

But I just called up the school, she told me she cant advise me on the distance, coz the distance guide for next yr aint out yet (aint it suppose to be similar to this yr i tot? hmm.. i guess the admin wasnt v helpful)..
anyway, do you know is there any other way I can find out?

2nd qns, as the TOP is 1Q2014, but as per latest data, likely to be 3or 4Q2013 (P1 in 2013), so during my registration for nxt yr 2012, can i uses the \"new address\"? DO i need to write some appeal letters to the school/MOE to prove that I really did purchased a house there (though IC still showing old addy)?

Appreciate your advice , thanks 🙂

thanks phtthp! this is so helpful… i managed to get the answers i need from MOE customer service

                    1) Yes my new house is within 1km (i havent buy yet but haa now can really go get it)

                    2) MOE/School allows to use the new addy for registration, as long as u can proof the TOP will be within 2yrs from the kids start P1.
ie: my boy start P1 in 2013, so the TOP have to be by 31Dec2014.

Jangoh, i really can’t advice much on backup plan after acs or sji. Considering there are no neighbouring school near acs or sji other than balestier hill school base on the location.

For me, i don’t believe in having backup plan as my heart is weak to handle any unexpected stressful balloting. I rather go for something for firm especially in your case where you have 2 boys.

Likewise i also don’t encourage parents to purposely foot out $ just to get an expensive house just to get a better chance to get into the school of your choice. What if still can’t get in despite staying less than 1km. Bear this in mind there are cases as such. Worse managed to get in the school but later no means to finance the house and ended with lots of unhappiness. Don’t forget that maybe next year a technical recession might happen (already some business sectors are feeling the pinch). Not too sure anyone aware that there are retrenchment going on in a quiet manner in SGP in this quarter. So is it that worth it? I don’t know but perhaps just do the needful calculated risk bah.

Laughingcat, I agree with u. I thought my plan was firm until 2011’s balloting surprises.

Def need to give it some more thought.

                        Thanks for ur kind advice.
