Hey guys, I simply have to post this. Every parents should watch this. There is something called the \"bystander mentality\". It could happen anywhere, and what people should do when witnessing such a situation.

                Victim's relatives harass helpers

                By Yang Yijun
                China Daily/Asia News Network
                Wednesday, Nov 09, 2011

SHANGHAI - Two waiters, who went to the aid of an old woman who was injured in a hit-and-run accident, ended up being threatened by the woman's relatives.

The incident is being seen as the latest example of good Samaritans being wrongly treated after helping the victims of traffic accidents.

More than 40 relatives and fellow villagers of a woman, who died after being hit by a car outside a restaurant on Oct 31, angrily besieged the waiters accusing them of being responsible for her death.

\"The waiters of the restaurant must have witnessed the accident, as it happened near the entrance to the restaurant. They should have called the police at once,\" said one of the woman's relatives. \"The doctors told us that she might have survived if she was sent to the hospital earlier.\" He denied they had attacked waiters.

\"We were angry, but the talk was peaceful. We didn't fight with the waiters or damage anything in the restaurant,\" he said. However, Li Xiaofeng, one of the waiters at Tianyuan Restaurant in Cangnan county of Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, said the mob was very scary.\"They held me and said they would bring a coffin to the restaurant,\" he said.

Li said he found the woman lying near the restaurant's entrance on his return to work after lunch and he summoned the restaurant's cashier Cheng Xiaoyan and they checked the woman's condition together.\"We found that she was unconscious and there was blood at the back of her head. We immediately called the police,\" Li said.

\"After the police arrived, we had to wait about 30 minutes for the ambulance,\" he added. Li said he felt very depressed after the confrontation with woman's relatives.

\"I called the police out of good intentions, but in the end I was abused by the victim's relatives.\"The relatives even accused the restaurant workers were linked with the driver. Fortunately, the driver, who drove off after hitting the woman, turned himself in to police on Nov 3, proving the waiters' innocence.

Thanks Concern2, a very good video to show how the bystander effect is making this world scary.....and it seems to be worsening.

And seriously, must always remind myself, never judge 'a book by it's cover'. The 2 man seems such unlikely people to bother but yet, see how they move in swiftly in times of crisis, was very moved. Their actions are really commendable. :salute:
