Hi LLX04,
Ke ke...my DDs also in holiday mood already. Best part is no homework anymore. :imcool:
Yes, the kids in sch seem to be really excited about the Fun Fair. Should be fun for the kids.
Looking forward to next week too....No sch on Monday ( Hari Raya) & Tuesday (sch marking day). :boogie: -

Tinkerbelle, my dd's kindy started teaching HYPY earlier this year, because they hired a new Chinese teacher and this new teacher recommended to teach (it wasn't in the syllabus). However, because I thought they were not going to teach, I had already sent my dd to one of those cheap group classes conducted by the Resident's Committee. That served its purpose because she was already familiar when the childcare centre teacher started teaching. So I'm not worried about the HYPY. The only disadvantage of having her learn HYPY is that when she reads Chinese books with HYPY on it, she tends to read the HYPY instead of the Chinese characters :slapshead: So I would take a ruler and cover up the HYPY to force her to recognise the character :nunchuk:
Hi michyms,
:hi5: I used the ruler to cover up all the HYPY when DD2 and I read Chinese books too. Like your DD, she liked to rely on HYPY in P1 too. Now, it's a routine, she'll bring the ruler along with her Chinese book when she wants to read...haha. -
michyms:
michyms, I :salute: you for reading Chinese books to improve your Chinese. Hate to admit this but I have never read a Chinese book .Tinkerbelle:
:rotflmao: I totally understand what you mean.....I have the same problem when I guide DD1 for upper pri. Chinese oral. The pictures and vocab get harder & I don't know many terms in Chinese so I also need to 'cheat' with the CD....
Tinkerbelle, I'm trying to improve my own Chinese standards by reading some Chinese books as well... I have never read a Chinese story book in my entire life, except for my school textbooks  So I am checking the dictionary every few sentences :imdrowning: Thank God for modern dictionaries on the iPhone!
Totally agree, e-dictionaries are God-sent. -

Hi cantbearit2,
All P6 will be mending different stalls at the Fun Fair on Saturday but DD1 is not sure where she'll be posted yet. Will let you know once she hears anything. Thanks for your support. :salute:
Yup, will definitely chase after you to say hello if I spot you...keke. Hope I can still recognise you.
DD2 is so ecxited about the Fun Fair. She's already telling me which teachers she want to dunk. Then she told me : Mummy, you can dunk the Principal.\"
e best part is she told me to dunk myself.
keke....your DD is so cute. :please:
Seems like the highlight of the Fun Fair is the dunking game.....all the students seem to want to see their teachers get wet... :imdrowning: -

BTW for parking at MCS, where do we parents park the car? At the nurseries?
Hi ohdaddy,
Do you mean parking at MCS on the day of the Fun Fair? There will be no parking available at MCS on that day. The sch has arranged for free parking at CHIJ Toa Payoh with half-hourly (10am-4pm) free shuttle bus to MCS.
Alternatively, you can park at the nurseries opposite MCS but expect the usual weekend crowd at the nurseries so parking might be limited.
Or you can also park at Mt. Alvernia Hospital (charges apply) and just walk over the overhead bridge to the sch. -
Hi,
P1 (2012) parents going to the Fun Fair this Saturday, please take note that there'll be no cash transaction at the stalls. Only Fun Fair Coupons will be accepted. Please get your coupons from Stall 41 at the foyer when you arrive. The cost of the coupon is $10/sheet. Each sheet comprises of 3 x $2 coupons, 4 x $1 coupons & 1 lucky draw.
Enjoy! :rahrah: -

can'tbearit, it is my deepest regret I didn't work harder in my Chinese or show more interest at it when I was in school, so I'm handicapped at work when I have to go through Chinese documents, so now I'm working to improve both my own Chinese and to make sure dd doesn't turn out like me :xedfingers:
Wow, U r one hardworking mummy wor... :salute: -
Itβs TGIF! See you guys at the funfair!
And enjoy the long weekend!
