I guess they would consider if the student appeals. I know of a case where the girl's GPA was below 3.6 but she was accepted into a Humans RA.Hi angell,
Thanks for sharing about RA. It's much appreciated.
Would the school take into consideration a girl with lower GPA for RA given that she is strong in all subjects except for a weaker MT, or perhaps she had a freak weak exam result for whatever reason? Thanks.
Perhaps it is good to be actively contributing during lessons especially in the subjects that you wish to apply to, so when the time comes, teachers would recommend you for all the interest and enthusiasm shown

Thanks Tinkerbelle. Actually, my dd's overall GPA for Yr4 is just so so, almost the lowest in her class, but enough to meet the RA requirement. GPA got pulled down by MT.[/quote]Hi angell,
:thankyou: angell for your detailed explanation. Much appreciated.Tinkerbelle:

Hi vlim and Tinkerbelle,
During my dd's time(she's Yr 5 now), to apply for RA at Sec 3, the student must first meet the GPA requirement, can't remember the exact details, but I think at least 3.6 for overall GPA and also for the subject applied to. There are selection tests and recommendations from teachers as well. Things may be different now, heard that now RA is counted as one subject.
I think the scope of the tests is pretty wide, so perhaps it would help if the child usually reads books (not just textbooks) and magazines, not the last minute kind of reading but done over years. I think if the child is really interested in the subject, we parents do not have to force them to read, they would want to themselves. To prepare for the test itself, then maybe A level textbooks may help. I notice that the textbooks nowadays are very interesting, easy to read and well illustrated. If I don't remember wrongly, topics to be tested are given.
There are girls who don't read widely but got in RA after selection tests. But I have the impression that a number of these girls did not make it into RA at Year 5.
As for Maths RA, most(or all?) are in the school's Maths Olympiad training.
Hope I've answered your questions.
Your DD's impressive to continue with RA at Year 5. :rahrah:
It's great that your DD met the RA requirement despite her GPA being pulled down by MT. :salute: Definitely not an easy feat! All the best to your DD in Year 5 (RA). :rahrah: -

Hi! Iβve heard confliciting stories about upper sec GPAs, which I hope some of you with prior experience can help to clarify. The 2 versions I heard are:
1) Upper sec GPAs go UP for most pupils as they are now doing subjects of their choice which they are strong in, as compared to lower sec, where many would have βweakerβ subjects which are compulsory to take.
2) Upper sec GPAs/marks go down generally for almost all, even in their so-called stronger areas/subjects. Even those doing RA subjects are affected in their standard curriculums.
While Iβm aware that there will always be exceptions, I would really like to have a clearer picture of what my dd can expect as she moves up to upper sec, so that I can help her adjust her expectations realistically. Would greatly appreciate any sharing or feedback. Any past year statistics especially would be good.
Thanks in advance! -
Does any parent have experience with Learning Lab or Learning Point English tuition for IP students ?
Which is better and more suitable for IP/GEP students?
I noticed that on TLL website, the secondary curriculum only for year 1 to year 4, does it mean they do not have anything for year 5 and year 6 ?
Thanks. -

May I ask a question from the parents of Rgs girl, what is the meaning "median %" in their academic report file?
