      James Ang:

Many of them will score A* for tomorrow's Maths paper because of the good habit of \"checking answers with calculator\" they have picked up. πŸ˜„

Hi James, that is not necessarily true, you know. If they worked out the sum wrongly or, in their haste, punch in the wrong numbers on their calculators, calamity will befall!

Don't worry, many of the students are seasoned and bound to do very well for the PSLE. I am glad tomorrow is finally the Maths paper. πŸ˜„

Maths papers finished.. Am told that it was a killer paper. Many questions were hard and GEPers could also not finsih some of them. Only good thing is that if it was a hard paper and results are average all-round, then T-Scores would still be quite high. 😞 😒

Agreed! My students told me the geometry (angles) question is very hard and one ratio problem sum. I haven't checked with them their questions, but one student did say she doesn't know how to do the speed question (speed questions hardly came out the past few years before the calculator was introduced and in future it should be coming out every year). Keep fingers crossed, the good students should be able to get A*. πŸ˜„

Killer paper or nightmare, it is here to stay. But the PSLE Maths does raise overall Maths standards. πŸ˜›

Just spoke to 3 of my students. They said that the paper was generally managable but they did not have time to do a thorough check. Only managed to check those that they were unsure of.

One of them mentioned that the geometry and ratio question was alright, but he could not solve the speed question. He got decimals in his answer which he thinks is not correct.

Another girl said that she could not understand the geometry question, but managed to do the ratio & speed questions.

Last boy said he could do all the questions. Had no troubles at all and he sounded quite satisfied with himself. FYI, this student has been doing very well the past year, scoring >95 in his schools' exams and in the exam papers I give him (2008 & 2009 prelim papers).

Problem is, manage to do & managed to get correct are 2 different things!
