Hi for those whose kids are taking higher chinese, do the girls have to stay back in school for the classes or is it integrated into their timetable. I am concerned now as I have actually signed DD up for a weekday afternoon session for Tienhsia.
DD came back and said that she was given the option to do higher chinese next year. Donβt know why I was under the impression that the school has made higher chinese compulsory. -

My P2 girl also brought back the Higher Chinese form today. For P3 HCL next year, the classes will be held either on Mondays or Fridays for an extra hour after normal lessons.Hi for those whose kids are taking higher chinese, do the girls have to stay back in school for the classes or is it integrated into their timetable. Still haven't decided yet as will have to wait for 2 hours for the 4.30pm school bus if take up Higher Chinese. Don't know whether she will be too tired as she needs to wake up very early to take the 5.50am school bus from next year

My scatterbrain girl just told me she was offered and never showed me the form.
Ok now no need to worry liao. No clash.
For me I'm lucky since my time is flexible and I can pick her up on those days and it's about a 15min drive home. I will sign her up just to give her more exposure to the language. If she can make it to continue in P4 good. If not oso no problems. -

Maybe our DDs have been friends already.
:hi5: we need to make friends, ctct....mine told me the same thing for Math...then after a little bit of grilling, says she didnt' understand about 7-marks worth. When the results came back?
They don't know the power of their carelessness!
My friends told me there may need 2 more year to wait our babies being more aware...I'm waiting.
My DD did not change her CCA next year. There are a lot of CCA trainning during this holiday. -
Luanee:
KSP, ctct, Andaiz, Pat, U guys going for PTC on 16th Nov? Wonder if our girls be in the same class next year? Hee...
I will go PTC on 16th Nov. Her FT did not say too much about DD's progress during last PTC, she gave me a roughly range of DD's ranking in the class. Things will be similar as last time, I think.
My DD told me P4 class' arrangement will be indicated on her report book. not sure about it.
BTW, what H class mean except E and F. Is it another special class for P4 girls? -
Andaiz:
U referring to the GEP letters? Oh but my dd's teacher has emailed us that she has given out the letters to those selected for 2nd round. And if no letter means not selected? So funny ah.ilaks:
:xedfingers: Just confirmed from School that the envelopes are not given yet!
Thanks ilaks, was going to post the same here. Info from my PVG friend who's called up the GO. Verbatim:\"Its not out yet. The Principal still has it - the results just came only...\" (okay, okay, bad Eng, if it really is loh :scratchhead: )
All the best, parents. -
KSP:
oh really?? that is something new....moonee:
DD just called to inform me her Science results, so disappointed, no hope for E or F liao... so whats next best ??
looks like its currently the (H) class for p4 n p5
i thought the next opportunity would be P5E/F based on their P4 results....
Sorry thought yr girl was in P4. Had to check back the list to c what level shes at...so shes in p3 n p4 next year.
yup the next opp would b in p4 when the school starts to exercise the subject base banding.

bliss-ful:
I guess aside frm E/F class being the high ability classses, some girls frm H class have been producing good results too so I guess thats why a number of parents have come to this conclusion altho the school has not acknowledge it.... could be a coincidenceE for excellent
F for fantastic
H for Hilarious
I am not sure about it but the English and Math teacher from H class also teach E class.

did many girls from this H class after PSLE release results - also end up in RGS, NYGH, NUSH ?
how do they assign students to E, F, H class ?
========================================
is it:-
i) based on P3 / P4 results - the first top 40 students enter class E, the next top 40 students enter F class, the 3rd batch of close to top 40 students enter H class ?
ii) or randomly mix up all 120 students P3 / P4 results into sequential groups of 3 ? example: say you are 1, next is 2, third is 3. Then announce - all the 1s enter E class, all the 2s enter F class and all the 3s enter H class, ie. mix them all up ? -

Currently only E/F are acknowledged to be the stronger mainstream classes. H is just hearsay. So it's better not to state it here and speculate in case it leads unknowing parents to the wrong conclusion.
E and F are equally strong classes.
