We got a place at acjs and it was also very tense and quiet. Most parents were very sensitive to the rest who had not gotten a place yet, walking out quietly w a smile when their names were called.
I was in the overseas and due for 11am flight today...was so lost and couldn't do anything in the hotel room until my friend brought me good news at 8:52am... :rahrah: then I could really pull myself up and speed to the airport. It was the longest wait ever. Thank God it's over.
:congrats:
You must be on cloud 9 now....very stressful to be undergoing balloting, I understand. Have a great weekend ahead! :rahrah:
:thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou:
p.s had a very bad headache this morning but ironically it's gone at this wee hour

Ya ya, at least not need to keep thinking of plan B or C or D. I was going crazy and wasn't a nice person at all
Hi Windie,windie:
Thanks chatty! I've heard alot about the nurturing environment and I feel very blessed that ds has a chance to spend his early formal schooling life there

Btw ru in the PSG?
You should be able to enjoy your weekends 'fully' now, after being tensed up for 1 entire week (or month?).
No, I am not in the PSG. A lot of parents there are in the PSG, and very supportive and self-sacrificing group, I am full of admiration for them and their dedication.
Are you in the PSG?
I plan to join the PSG. It would be the closest i can get to understanding the sch and be part of sch activities, i guess! -
hi
was it finally 72 app for 63 vac? i’m registering next yr for my boy, so gathering all important info.
thanks -

For Phase 2C in ACSJunior, 76 applicants for 64 places. My view is risk of balloting is high with so many new developments TOP in the area.hi

Hihi
I am thinking of applying for ACJS for my DS in July this year under phase 2B but we are outside of 2Km. I knwo stats last year showed no vacancies but wonder how would my chances be this year? -
Hullo!
My hubby’s in ACS Secondary before, but not ACPS.
So if he subscribes to join the Alumni (ACS Old boys association) $500 one time off for life membership), does that mean my son can register in phase 2A?
1km cut off dont matter anymore then? -
lilfeets, how would anyone know the chances when registration has not even started yet? Every year is different…the only positive aspect this year would be that Singaporeans would get double the chance compared to the PRs I guess.
happeemommie, no. Your husband must be an old boy from ACS Primary or ACS Junior in order for your son to be able to register under Phase2A. Phase 2A is for a child whose parent is a former student of the primary school AND [not or] who has joined the alumini association. If he is merely an Alumini member and does not come from ACS (Primary or Junior), it would be under 2C. -

That's why we always have a caveat - assuming future follows the historical trend.
angeliatay:
No, you are wrong. This year, Singaporeans will get priority over PRs within the phase. So, if you are a Singaporean in the 1-2 km category (or even > 2 km category), you have priority over a PR who stays less than 1 km away from the school...the only positive aspect this year would be that Singaporeans would get double the chance compared to the PRs I guess.
This could be probably why lifeets asked the question. Nevertheless, you were right that nobody would know the chance of getting into a school when the registration process hadn't even started. -
Just some additional info.
When ACPS was still in Coleman St, they had 10 classes per cohort vs ACJS 4 classes in Barker Rd. Believe that was up to the 80s
I’m not sure how many classes ACJS had after they moved to Cairnhill and ACPS after they moved to BR. Maybe someone can provide this info.
If that being the case, ACPS will have significantly more Old Boys than ACJS and that will affect the take-up rate at 2A.
