I do feel sad for those who bought a place to better their luck and yet failed.
When you rent, you can cut your loss quickly. -

Good for you then. No mail from MOE either? MOE usually sends at least one snail mail a year to all students.
Sad to say I didn't receive any mail from school since jan. only mail is email!,jtoh:
Yes. The parents may not tell the kid to lie, but the truth will surface somehow. Those simple show-and-tells may not be that innocent. They could actually be fact-finding missions directed by MOE sleuths. :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
Anyway, the school will send mails to the registered address and this has to be updated yearly. How to keep up the pretense if you're not renting the place anymore?
Wait... I suppose those with the intention to cheat will find a way. :?
the best way to find out is for teacher to publish the address and phone contact of each child and we can kapok kapok a bit   -

I have a fren staying in the East and older girl got into GEP with a girls’ school in town. Her younger girl got into same reputable school via sibling priority. Then they all shifted to town renting a condo. to be near the school. Their own place in the East rented out too. To me, this is the right way of doing things ie. you don’t cheat to get into school of choice but in consideration of the distance benefit you move your kids nearer to the school.
However, with so many PRs nowadays, and PRs usually rent. It is heart-paining to think that PRs would have the most valid reasons for renting those places near those popular schools and then got in. :< Whereas us true blue SGreans play by the rules and then not even got chance to ballot. I am not advocating cheating, just philosophically thinking is it a case again of us being too goondu… -
who are those that usually rent houses < 1km, near popular schools ?
do you think it’s more PRs than … local SGrean citizens ? because PRs are rich, mobile to shift around easier -

You don't have to be wealthy to rent a place near a popular school. Popular schools can be in neighbourhood schools too.who are those that usually rent houses < 1km, near popular schools ?
do you think it's more PRs than ... compared to local SGrean citizens ? why ? because PRs are so rich, thus they are highly mobile to shift around much more easily compared to own local citizen?
Even in expensive neighbourhoods you have people like your friend who'll contemplate renting for 6 months just to use the address then shift out bec 'cannot tahan the expensive rent'. -
